Pretty much, it should be a narrowish twisting canyon with toppling rock formations and various jutting-out boulders, right?

There's always a light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, it's usually an oncoming express train.

Slow and steady gets you trampled by the other guys.

Well, the fog should be toned high enough that any hazards are hard to see, but with a low lighting.

Probably just around 3-5 lumas total, with only 1 real one. Spammage of fake lumas would...be excessive...you know
A secret star is just begging to be hidden sneakily in this galaxy.

Uhh...based on bullet bills?
Couldn't it be just a fort like a firing range slash Bowser level minus lava?
I mean, all the Bowser levels are just 'disconnected arenas/walkways' or a final castle. Can't there be a middle fortress?
Also, having only Bullet Bills in Bowser's castle while the rest of his army is way off...

I remember a puzzle was mentioned, that Mario must hit a slow-down time switch, so that a mini-planet serving as an electron slows down enough for him to get pulled on to it by gravity. (Normally, it's supposed to be moving too fast and being too small, about the size of that Sky Station tiny grey moon, the one in a group that Mario actually orbits around for a bit before landing.)

Yeah, that or a remade yoshi sphinx ;)
Though a pyramid makes more sense

A more general temple theme would be slightly better, since the pyramid theme is really tied to the sand theme. Like, a dungeon part, a maze part, then a non-underground part.

Maybe it should be a main planet mostly occupied with a huge erupting volcano, with a hemisphere of water on the other side, with many other similarly sized water planets.
There needs to be obsidian paths and obsidian boulders on the water planets. And maybe a slight fog effect. You know, lava + water.
Stygmax's idea is pretty nice. Like, one of those lava spheres from the beginning of Melty Monster lopsidedly encased in a sphere of water, with plenty of obsidian chunks and a significent fog effect. (is that possible underwater?)

Well, if it was 100 times larger, a bit wider, and was darker-colored. :P
It should be a pretty awesome fortress to rival Bowser's Castle, with darkish colors, a cosmic-scale size, and be broken (otherwise it would be rather weird in difficulty, it's no.1). More towers like that + more walkways + retexture...
Sounds too much, but...you know.
Is that proposed "battle" between Bowser's airships and Comet Observatory + Starship Mario possible?

It would be best to take the attention away from the dark matter...
Anyway, fog puzzles are the whole point of this galaxy. Maybe a small non-linear foggy forest part? Like, making a small forest maze of Star Chips, with various dead ends, ambushes around the corner, and traps of poison and such, all in the fog.
One particularly evil trap would be fog at the edge of a cliff...
Fog could hide various little secrets, or ambushes by enemies.
I'm assuming that the fog effect will be turned up higher than in Freezy Flake, but removing the snow effect, right?
Actually, is there any approximation of poison smog (like in level 8-1 of NSMBW), or making fog evaporate through a switch?

Complemented with a poison bog, the result can be trails of floating logs leading off to different directions, with some parts having thicker fog than usual.

Bringing back the World X idea for EotU. :P
It would be interesting for Gliding Inferno to be quite a long way from the map, then End of the Universe being WAY away from the others, at the edge of the world. Background should be lightening flashing dramatic, but then changing to plain white at the edge/EotU for added effect (if possible).

Bowser shape? Don't see how that would work...unless somebody can show a pic...

...wut.
This is supposed to be the screwy gravity themed galaxy, right?
Actually, I wonder how would Bowser and his shockwaves act like on a non-spherical planet. Or even a flat platform. Would the shockwaves adjust to the planet?
If a flat platform works, Bowser could even be fought indoors, in a huge spherical room where the pipes end.

Anyway, there should definitely be tubes, with even screwier gravity than the outside. Because, you know, screwy gravity in an outdoor place gets Mario killed.

Me neither.
I agree with the first star, but it should have more cannon puzzles, and the water being very shallow... o.0
I mean, there aren't really any pirate themed things in SMG, so an abandoned pirate ship will have to suffice. But there has to be enough tricks to keep it from Shiprock.
So, maybe there should be more key puzzles, various simple traps, some switch puzzles, and a general empty-ish feel. Jumpy.

But maybe the "secret" star should be just a regular star. A triple jump is a bit...you know...And there's no indication...
Maybe in the second star, the penguins accidently turned on the cannons...

Yeah, but maybe there should be a secondary rock theme. Suddenly, a lot more ideas come to mind. Like a slope with lots of Diggas burrowing around, and lots of rocks coming down the slope.
Like an entire mining scene. Like Boulder Bowl, except the rock pillars replaced by dirt pillars and hills, and having a lot more layers.
Or a 2D underground part, like in Spin-Dig, except there's more platforming and sideways moving.

That's actually...kinda creepy...
I mean, if you put E. Gadd on a tombstone, that means that E. Gadd was buried on that planet, beneath the feet of the reader.

Anyway, Polari, is this galaxy design anywhere high up your priority list?

Well, it can just be 6 different zones, each with a different theme. Just to keep it from being a random mishmash.

I remember I posted an idea:
A very large Cosmic Cove-like planet, with ridges of rock and beaches seperating 2 gigantic lakes, one peaceful (like the original Crystal Creek concept) and one with the sunken satellite, electrified and dangerous. With surrounding swarms of small water planets, some with small pieces of the satellite.

Sorry, I don't quite get what you mean by "fighting the ice". Or why ice, lava and quicksand should be in a gravity themed galaxy.

I thought it wasn't a sunken ship, just a ship with a crew of Toads who crashed their ship onto a tropical island or something like that.

Hmmm, it's interesting how so many themes are associated with other themes. Mountain with ice, Bowser with lava and pirate with haunted.
Why can't we just have an abandoned pirate ship? Like, an actual halfway realistic one, with traps, puzzles and switches left over.
Well, either way, Shiprock can't have a pirate ship if there's one here.
Actually, who made the idea of a pirate ship here in the first place? Must be the result of
moon + lake = haunted ship
