!!ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE DETECTS WAY TOO MANY FALSE POSITIVES!!
Usually this happens to smaller software developers, because they may not have the budget to afford signing their software, among other things. There have been a handful of cases where larger software vendors were affected, however those are usually fixed in a timely fashion. Smaller vendors or independent programmers do not have the human resources necessary to draw attention to these issues. THANK YOU CORPORATE AMERICA. YOU REALLY DID A SWELL JOB THIS TIME. |

I was saying this jokingly.
Of course, Linux has some exploits and viruses, but they're not even close to as bad as what Windows has. Well, Linux exploits can be as bad as being a 20 (!) year old exploit that wasn't patched since, but once found, they've been patched quickly. Mostly. |

I have AVG on my computer. The only time I got a virus was from my school USB, and that's because every PC in my school is infected with a virus, and apparently, all the teachers think it's an excuse made up by students so they don't have to do work. |

Honestly, as long as your on a recent OS, Windows Defender works just fine. Run malewarebytes every so often, and avoid shady sites as much as possible. But in 2017, stuff like AVG is just bloat. ____________________ Switch on latest firm happily playing Smash daily PC with an i7-4790K, RX480, 16GB ram Various other consoles that are hardly used due to emulation existing |

I generally hate that security is at the hands of a capitalist market
the amount of effort required to get a good antivirus going is so large that you have to be a company with a big enough workforce to play within that ground (browsers are the same way, too) security is really 95% common sense with the remaining 5% being shit like a legit website that got infected, or someone targetting you specifically for whatever reason ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Well, until recently, the same held true for SNS services.
Only Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and maybe Google+ could stand a chance, and they're all cooperate SNS services. However, now we have an entirely open-source, community-driven SNS service called "Mastodon", and it's already gaining loads of users every day, especially users from Japan, France, and USA. Stats: https://dashboards.mnm.social/dashboard/db/mastodon-network-overview?refresh=1h&orgId=1 Source code: https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon So the point of me mentioning all of that, Mastodon is proof that you don't need to be a cooperate powerhouse, in order to compete in a certain market. So, let's make open-source great again! |

macOS has even less viruses than Linux I think. But I laughed when Windblows Defender spammed me because of a Photoshop cracking tool |

Considering how limited Apple's OSs are, I wouldn't really be surprised. If you're someone that is using Linux, you're probably smart enough to pretty much be your own antivirus. And with both of these, it's probably more efficient for the people that make viruses / whatever with malicious intent to target Windows anyways, because it's what the majority of people use.

Or use GIMP.
It's free, and it works on all OSs. |

MacOS have the most vulnerabilities, I don't recommend using it.
The problem that is too much closed and also antiviruses don't have access to many things, so when a virus access to a zone that antiviruses can't access, it makes a big trouble ! ____________________ "I failed in some subjects in exam, but my friend passed in all. Posted by Yoshimaster96 True... but then you think that EVERYTHING is a false positive. Posted by iyenal Yeah. Even windows defender couldn't catch the 328 viruses on my computer. Lol, how on earth is macOS the most vulnerable? You need to give an admin authorization even to switch off the Wi-Fi. macOS is over-secure, and furthermore no hacker wants to spend time making a virus for an OS 1% of users in the world use. even Avast free is overkill on macOS.
Anyways, I use Windows Defender on my Windows 10, usually works flawlessly. |
