That's what I mean. I want to keep the Galaxy name but completely redesign the old concept of life/death.

Well, to match with the idea that I had, how about "Maze Manor Galaxy"? You know, to keep the whole alliteration thing.

I've recently thought up another Galaxy idea in case one of the existing ones gets scrapped. This one really just came to me out of nowhere while I was playing Super Mario Galaxy 2. The Galaxy currently has 3 tentative titles, all using rhymes. Either "Thwomp Swamp Galaxy", "Whomp Swamp Galaxy", or "Thwomp Whomp Swamp Galaxy". Either way, I plan to incorporate both of these enemies very prominently in the levels. Being a swampy area, most enemies would either be plants or bugs to match the environment. So, that basically means piranha plants, mandibugs, flipbugs, etc. There would be little to no fog too, as I know that we already have a galaxy built around that concept. I'll provide more step by step details on the stars later, but I plan the first star to be focused around Thwomps, and the second star to focus on Whomps. Is it also possible to edit/retexture both enemies to make them look like they have moss and vines growing on them? I should go over the mechanic with the Thwomp as well then. Thwomps would fly out of bodies of water as you neared them (during a wooden raft section) and then fall downwards as they usually do. I'd like to know if these last two concepts would be possible to pull-off before I gave more details.

I'm making this post to notify everyone that I'm creating a draft for a new Galaxy. The final name is "Thwomp Swamp Galaxy", and will have a large focus on Thwomps and Whomps in, you guessed it, a swamp. I'll elaborate further when I provide my first draft (which WILL include a drawn design), but both of these enemies will have a heavy usage in the galaxy (each star focuses on one of the enemies).

Admittedly, thinking of ideas for Whomp Swamp to match the name has been pretty tough. I'll make the draft and see how it goes.

I think that beakers and test tubes floating in space would be more fitting for Super Mario Galaxy. Indoor laboratories just don't seem like something that would fit in a Mario game of any kind. I'm with Polari here.

By the way, I'd be fine with designing a few replacements if it comes to the point where we scrap a few galaxies. Unless we're just going to take old ideas that weren't previously implemented and further develop those.

Well, it's late summer. Almost September, actually. Are we going to miss our initial projection for that new trailer? Personally, I feel like releasing a new trailer every year should be a priority. To show that progress has been made, and that this whole project is still relevant. Besides, it can draw in a lot of newcomers. I most certainly wouldn't know that this project existed were it not for the trailer released one year ago. I'm not saying that we need a new demo, but a trailer is fairly necessary if we want more help and such.

Great job, Fnar! I wouldn't know the first thing about texturing, but you look like you're doing great. I just wish that I could help with modeling and texturing, but I don't have the materials nor do I know how to do either.

This should give me some insight to my design for Thwomp Swamp Galaxy. I think it could work with just three planets...sorry if I'm going off topic.

Wasn't this level supposed to be designed like the inside of a Wii? It might be neat, but I don't see how a computer floating in cyberspace would fit inside of a Nintendo console.

Perhaps that was just a scrapped idea that I saw before, I honestly don't remember.

Wouldn't the compass work better as a clock, showing the passing of time? A compass doesn't make much sense as an indicator of seasons.

Not to be too technical, but electricity doesn't control something: it powers it. I suppose you mean that Digital Circuit Galaxy is giving him the energy to operate on his own.

I haven't listened to any of the previous versions, but this sounds great! I wouldn't change a thing!

Alright, here's what I hope to be the finalized concept art of Planet 1 in Thwomp Swamp Galaxy:

Basically, I just added in a few star bits, a mandibug, and a chance cube room.

Planet 2 is complete! Well, the draft, at least.

This is just a quick update to announce that I'm stopping any and all development on this galaxy. So far it's just been a mish-mosh of geometric figures for platforms, random enemy placement, and a very linear build. I've realized that I'm pretty bad at level design and conveying what I imagine the galaxy to be through words. If anyone wants to pick up this galaxy idea and put their own twist on it, by all means go ahead. But if not, I might as well scrap this concept as a whole.

Thanks for that. Thoughts? I don't personally think that I'm going to continue it.

That's a great start, keep up the great work!

Thanks for the encouraging words! After some consideration, it looks like I'm continuing work on this galaxy after all.

Holy cow, that looks excellent! I'm with gc on this, I personally think that galaxy designing should utilize more collaboration than it already does.
