Ladies and Gentlemen, and NWPlayers. Polari presents...Fearsome Factory's Star 1 Design!

Well, yeah, this started off when my English teacher took one of my notebooks in class. I pulled out a blank sheet of paper and started drawing some random stuff, and ended up making this design >_>

Planet 1
[image]
Mario starts off in that middle area. The gravity allows Mario's feet to stay on the metal platforms. He'll have to dodge a Mobile Sentry Beam, which will shoot as soon as Mario gets close to it. After getting near the top, he can kill a few Fizzlits that are waiting there. Mario'll have to go down that halfpipe thing, and will have to jump from platform to platform from the bottom side of the platforms. Once Mario gets to the end of the path, the gravity will shift back to normal. He'll be able to obtain the Spring Mushroom, which he will have to use to go upwards. At the top, there will be a launchstar waiting, to take Mario to the bottom side of the picture. There, he'll have to kill 4 or 5 Fizzlits so a launch star can appear and take Mario to the next section

Planet 2
[image]
The player lands on top. Those weird disk things are the Space Storm spinning platforms, kinda like in Martboo's video. At one point, Mario will have to crouch and then backflip at the right time to get up to the disk that is higher up. Near the exit pipe, there should be a Spring Mushroom which you can use to help you in this area. You'll have to climb up the sidewards platforms, then go up that tube-like place made up of multiple sideways spinning platforms. Some go in opposite directions, which can help you while dodging the chomps. I'm not sure if they have to follow the laws of physics or not, so this part has to be tested. Right after that, you'll have to dodge a series of blocks that try to crush you. If you have the spring mushroom, you can just jump to the top of one of them and make your life a lot easier. On the next platform, you have a choice between a teleporter and a launch star. The teleporter takes you to an area where you have to dodge a series of thwomps, then 2 stationary sentry beams. A section I don't have art for. At the end of the path, there is a Comet Medal. Once the timer times out, you are teleported to the area that you would've gone to if you had used the launch star.

Planet 3
[image]
The player will land near the top, and make his way through the area, dodging the enemies. He'll then go through that pipe, which has chain chomps rolling in it (Yeah...I really should've made it look bigger) After that, he'll have to jump onto the moving platforms at the right time. Then go down that walkway, which has been gravity-fied. In the next walkway section, there will be Chomps falling out of those tube like things. There will be more than one. Then the player will have to use those spike-ish things (It's FEARSOME Factory, so...Whatever. I will probably change it to something else anyway) Once he gets to the top, he'll have to avoid the spike traps. At the end of the way, there is a Launch star to take the player to the next planet.

Planet 3
[image]
The hardest section, by far. Mario should grab a quick Springshroom. Mario will have to fall on the giant spinning platform, dodge all the amps, and go up one of those walls things using it's gravitationality skillz. He'll then have to do a super jump to reach those normal platforms. As soon as he gets in that range, the gravity will shift back to normal. Mario will have to jump over the Chomp Generator, which is operational, go up the sexy-smooth walkway, and use the Snake Blocks to progress. There should be a checkpoint at the beginning of this planet (Or the one before this?) Anyway, using the Spring Mushroom is required here, since there is a large snake block ledge that Mario will have to jump over. After that, Mario receives his dang star. AND I'M FUCKING TIRED OF TYPING ALL THIS SHIT SO FUCKING BYE.

Yeah...Not my best work.

Its not bad, but when I pictured Fearsome Factory, I pictured more indoor.

We have enough indoor galaxies.

Good job Polari :D I like the style you've gone for with the art. I think it suits this galaxy rather well :)

Yea, this style makes like a combination of platforimg and grille & patio; an outdoor factory. Remindsme if The Works a lot. The Spring Mushroom adds some good difficulty. By the way, the "Space Storm disks" are the Topman's Tower's spinning bases.

Hmmm, not bad I suppose.
You know, I don't think a small walkway-and-platform galaxy should be Fearsome FACTORY, you know...

This would still work, but IMO it needs a bit of lengthening, and not just a few walkways and chomps.
(And maybe there should be a lot more layers/levels of platforms and stuff, just for show.
Some variety, you know. Right now it looks like Chompworks' platforms without the lava. :/
Try adding more "Bowser" or "factory" things, like the Bowser statue lasers, Ledge Hammers, gears, pipes, metal walls...
Not saying your design is useless, but one layer of a few walkways, platforms and enemies doesn't really look like a factory...it's too disconnected.

An outdoor factory is an interesting twist, but it needs to look the part. Fearsome Factory.
That's just my opinion.

There's always a light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, it's usually an oncoming express train.

Slow and steady gets you trampled by the other guys.

Yeah, I was thinking of adding some extra areas, but didn't know what to put in them. I guess Ledge Hammers will do. Also, I'm not adding anything Bowser related. We have enough Bowser galaxies in W6.

Maybe you could something like a "wall-less, roof-less factory". It uses the patio concept more specifically and there would be more room for gears and stomping machines.

A cool, if short, design, though it could use a few more bigger-sized planets.

The whole point of W6 is the leadup to Bowser. :P
I mean, a disjointed "factory" without anyone running it seems...really weird.
And I have a hard time imagining an evil non-Bowser factory. :P

If you do decide to not have Bowser here, it needs a big revamp. Well, either way, really. :P
Pretty much, it needs to be more connected, with, say, pipes, metal sheets, gears, and hammers etc., just for cosmetic effect, to make it an actual factory look.

Chompworks. It didn't have anything that showed that it was Bowser's chomp factory or whatever. And this factory isn't suppose to be evil >_<

Didn't you try to make it NOT like Chompworks?
It needs to look like a factory, at least.

I still like the concept of an outdoor factory. Really, all there needs to be is larger and wider areas.

Some stuff I'd like the revision to have is the concept of like sentries guarding the place, like in Grandmaster.
An example would be that spiky yellow thing and the Octopus things. They'd be on their own little planet waiting for you and such.

The Octopi would be out of place, but I can use Mobile Sentry Beams as a replacement.

Yeah, maybe, but I'd also like the see the moving Space Junk platforms that move into place when you get near. It's a nice touch and it fits well.

But firstly, it needs that factory feel. Just add a ton of gear platforms and Ledge Hammers everywhere, as well as some other stuff lying around.

And more personified enemies like Whomps or Sentry Beams.

Not all factories need to have a spamage of gear platforms...

Well, it has to have something added.
I mean, look at the art. IMO that doesn't look too much like a factory.
May not be gear spammage though.
