Yup. They use DMCA to justify forbidding farmers from fixing their own tractors, because the tractors embed proprietary software. Note that again, the bullshit 'security' excuse is being used. We're taking a turn for the worst here. Combine the dumb 'connect everything' trend and DMCA and you get legally-enforced planned obsolescence. Good job! You get to ruin Earth under a legal cover that only a revolution will blow. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

those people are idiots.
the legal system is really, er, terrible at this point in time. they're screwing up resources, tractors, and of course cashflow for farmers because sometimes without a working tractor, it's much harder for them to work. so nice job, guys! you've started ruining the lifes of people, too. proud of yourself yet? |

Ok, seriously, DMCA is for online illegal content, not for actual objects like farm equipment. See what the 'D' stands for, digital? Or maybe it stands for actual objects.
If they try to screw up the lives of farmers, then we will share a food shortage. This is just completely stupid, another plot to try to get excess money in some way, which reminds me of China using plastic to make rice. All just some scheme that hurts more people than help more people in the long run. People seriously have to stop being so selfish, really. The economy isn't that good, yeah, but ruining other's lives, won't help make the economy better. Although the farm equipment company might get a bit more money, soon they will have no food to eat. Trading money for your life is dumb (well, it isn't that extreme but anyways) If the future is embedding stupid software inside equipment and making us not be able to fix it ourselves, well, this chaos. ____________________ MusiMasta - YouTube Channel Currently 374 subs! yeah but
what about actual incidents where people are doing illegal stuff like copying DVDs and selling them I think that the DMCA has to be reinstated so that if they don't mess with the software and only repair the tractor, then it should be ok. Even if they do mess with the software, it's Modding, isn't it? The bought it, so it's ok. They're not even transferring the software illegally. ____________________ MusiMasta - YouTube Channel Currently 374 subs! Help support me by subscribing! Thanks! it's kinda like the government in other ways. sure, a lot of people are corrupt, but getting rid of the government would be uh
bad in many ways anyway, yeah, they need to seriously reconstruct that place. they're messing up people's day-to-day lives with them not able to fix their tractor that enables them to work. |

I think the best thing they can do is "boycott" selling their products for a while. This would all, uh, affect us negatively, but maybe this will press the law people to give in and respect the farmers' rights.
Of course, there can be other solutions as well, but they haven't been too successful ____________________ MusiMasta - YouTube Channel Currently 374 subs! Help support me by subscribing! Thanks! Featured Videos: I PLAY POKEMON GO EVERYDAY IN 300,000 NOTES Pokémon Theme Song 260K Notes Remix |

who cares if they modify the software anyway, it only involves their responsibility. I mean, it's not like they're hacking servers. It's more like if you mess with the Windows install on your PC, which isn't forbidden.
you only need a strong warning like "do not touch the software unless you know what you're doing". as for pirating DVDs: that's what copy protection should be for, but really it's another debate. It's a tricky field because movies are data which can be copied infinitely. It's quite normal to have laws regulating that, be it DMCA or something else, but said laws should stick to that field and not be abused for the goods of the consumer society (legally enforcing planned obsolescence, keeping people into idiocy and belief that they can't fix shit themselves, etc). also, there's an interesting theory on piracy (which I don't completely agree with, but eh): people would pirate things because it was easier than obtaining them legally. For example, going to stores to buy physical copies of games, or the whole music DRM shit. also consider that pirating isn't all easy. You not seldom get survey-locked files, malware or shit that isn't what you want. Newest content (recent games, Blu-Ray rips) can be so large that it would take ages to download unless you have a fast connection. And so on. The idea is to provide platforms that make it easier to obtain content legally than to pirate it. Thus, people who just look for convenience will pay. But the part where I don't fully agree is that you have another category of pirates: those who want things for free. In that case, nothing will deter them from pirating content, and going after them individually is a waste of time. The most effective solution is to go after sites that distribute pirated content. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

So, greedy copyright holders is now going to extend to physical objects that people need to use, so we can, you know, actually EAT?
What is this godforsaken world come to? |
