I've been very off-and-on Kuribo64, so I haven't been up-to-date on things... but, I've
noticed my name colour changing a lot. I'm curious, is it for the holidays?
Is it something special? Is it because my birthday is in three weeks (as I understand
name colours will change for birthdays)? If this isn't allowed here, please let
me know and I'll take this post down!

the random colors are for the holidays, if your name is a rainbow color it means it's that user's birthday

Ohh, I see! Well, I'll be having a rainbow username soon, then~.

you might have a gray color if you bump like that

ow, this is so harsh.

I would like to see my name with a black/white glow, like rainbow ones. Or with WebGL effects.
And some tesselation, just to make all the browsers that see my posts crash. XD
It should be an option.

Also, to avoid old thread bumping, a warning/ notice should be added when the user is about to post in an old thread, so in case he didn't checked the last post date he can be aware.

i don't see the problem about bumping if you contribute something reasonable, but a post like that isn't exactly reasonable :p

exactly

it's worth noting that you're not staff, tho.

I think it's a fair point to bring up despite the lack of staff.

When I say old thread, I mean +6 months thread where it is more useful to make a new thread since conditions change, even I understand that it may confuse because it could implicitely relate to this thread case.
So not necessarily this bumping, if it is really one.

Yes, and I don't deny this affirmation.
What I said was just a notice, an observation. Maybe my post would be more adequate in suggestions section, though.

I am really sorry of this misunderstanding.

a little too much non-committal conclusion, no ? Sometimes we can miss some things.
XD I just hope that I am not classified in this category.

yeah yeah, of course

just referring to how certain people just don't read rules/warnings/etc even if you shove those in their faces

for example NSMBHD has the bump warning and it doesn't seem to be worth it, but then again the issue of bad thread bumps is not a big one at all, so imo it's not worth any measure other than taking care of bad cases individually

also re: noobs don't read

I like how the NGEmu forums did it for the PCSX2 forum back then: the link to the forums led to a rules page instead, but there was no obvious 'okay take me to the forum' type button

instead, it was done in such a way that finding out how to get in, while still being trivial, required reading the rules

oh, you reminded me that I used to have an account on NGEmu a long ago... (to ask for DSiWare games support)

I don't like very much this idea, because it may make users think that the forum is buggy or whatever, and make them left it.
Rules should not be long, but concise and short, so people read them without being "forced" to, and then they agree to these morally since they read them knowingly.

But well I understand that there may be some people that don't want to read, and if so they just didn't understood that a forum need reading and just not pointless writing.
