Do you "Triangulate" your project. If not. Do it:

You can get the "Triangulation" plugin for Sketchup here:

http://osbo.com/sketchup/triangulate/

Instruction of use:

1. Download the plugin
2. put it into the plugin folder to Google Sketchup
3. When finished modeling, click "Plugins" and then "triangulate".
NOTE: Make sure to save you model BEFORE triangulating the model, incase you need to modify the level (which is for the most cases.)
Why? Because when you have triangulated your project, then you can't modify it, thats why!

So that worked?

You see, the Triangulation plugin "Triangulate" the model you created, basically cuts it up to many, many triangle shaped faces. And from what I know, Super Mario 64 DS support that.

I'm kinda figures crossed on this question, as I wanted to do something like this for Super Mario 64 but due to the troubles in making it happen, I thought hopefully it also possible with SM64DS too.

Anyway is it possible to use an OBJ importer to import over body parts? Something like being able to swap out Mario's arm with a custom object?

For now its impossible. Because Mario's model is a bmd file. And you can only convert nsbmds to obj (I wonder why they created a program for the more complicated model format xP)

Future versions of SM64DSe may support replacing any model and not just levels. I just need plans to expand the model importer to every model in the game, and animation has to be taken into account (given I have no idea how that obscure shit works, it may take long ).
