About the hats,

In Bomb-Orb battlefield's second act, if you enter it with Yoshi then you can access two Caps (One on a Goomba next to the rocky cannon, and the other on the actual mountain). If you collect both then you do get a 1-up for the second one (But stuff such as the multiple hat glitch wont for some odd reason).

I got a minor question, What emulator do you suppose is currently most accurate in emulating SM64?

Well I thought I should create this thread otherwise I wouldn't have anywhere to post this vid - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARdaEB0qOJM.

I don't have much more to show for now, but I might port one of my other levels once Beta 3 of SM64DSe is released

EDIT: I got bored and decided to port some of my other levels anyway

I was wondering about the face count on your OBJ importer, as I tried to import Spiral Mountain (from Banjo Kazooie) though your importer with problematic results (The model doesn't show up in the preview and importing it only screws up the program).

The model has a 3195 face count so I'm guessing that it's probably due to that. If it isn't then I would be happy to PM the model to you to experiment with.

Edit: Also (NSQ) how's progress coming along?

So your newest version of the OBJ importer does allow me to import the OBJ, but it has a little texture problem.

Yup, no textures at all. It also shows up as having no textures in the importer preview as well. I put the OBJ file on the Uploader if anyone else wants to test it out.

Here's another one of my ARSM64 model imported into SM64DSe http://youtu.be/c90EyrdEiQU. Hopefully you can improve collision stability Mega-Mario so I can start working on new levels in this game

@uTopia Productions - Glad you like it

Good luck with your project. I have made my decision a while ago that I would port my SM64 hack over to SM64DS once I complete it (if SM64DSe could support my levels that is ).

Hi I'm Vinnyboiler and I'm a Marioholic

I'm been hanging around the SM64 hacking scene (the plain old N64 version ) since 2007 back when I was 13. I have since started my own hack (which I am certainly not rushed in completing) which currently has about 10 levels completed for it and is named Alternate Reality Mario 64.

I have also been interested in checking out other community's hacking scene's as I really been impressed with some of the hacking community's out there, namely SSBB, NSMBWii, SMW and NSMB (tips hat off to Ray). I also believe SM64DS could have a great community and that's why I signed up here

I already made a request for OBJ exporting, as some of the levels would be cool to have in the original SM64. Probably a very lazily done Music importer would be nice to, though it's been made obvious that it is not necessary.

Though at the moment I don't mind MM refining the features he has already

Truth be told, I'm really too lazy to create another introduction thread for this hack, so I'll just post some pics and my story and leave it at that

Story
After battling Bowser for the 1 millionth time, Mario suddenly finds himself fainting during the fight. He wakes up in the near distant future, learning that the Mushroom Kingdom is falling apart after the Mushroom people lost the war against Bowser, and subsequently started a civil war between themselves. As Mario you must help bring peace the residents of the Mushroom Kingdom by bringing them together and uniting them against Bowser.

Looks really nice. I love the first picture most and the story sounds good. But just one question:
The introduction of the game will be the same, right? So you cant see Mario fainting really? And your levels are a bit empty

I haven't shown the introduction yet, but it will be a tutorial level leading up to a fake fight with Bowser. During the fight Mario life will slowly drain until he dies.

The reason the levels look a bit empty is because I haven't really added any in-game objects to the levels yet. Once I finish the bulk of my levels I will transfer the object files to a new ROM and then add in-game objects (to avoid glitches and such).

You do know it's easy creating bowls and spheres with the Sphere tool (just put this file in the Sketchup plugins folder and a sphere option should be under Draw). I would help out but I have kinda alot of stuff on my plate right now (both in real life and online)

Edit: I made a simple Bowl Sketch up file because I love you guys

Since you guy's are ripping models from the game, you don't mind ripping Peach's Castle/Toad Town for me?

I don't have the resources to do so myself and I'm planning on simplifying the area leading up to the castle to so I can import it into my SM64 hack. I would be grateful if would do that for me.

I'm kinda figures crossed on this question, as I wanted to do something like this for Super Mario 64 but due to the troubles in making it happen, I thought hopefully it also possible with SM64DS too.

Anyway is it possible to use an OBJ importer to import over body parts? Something like being able to swap out Mario's arm with a custom object?

For now its impossible. Because Mario's model is a bmd file. And you can only convert nsbmds to obj (I wonder why they created a program for the more complicated model format xP)

I wonder too, it's a damn shame that they have though. it's unfortunate

Happy new year

My new year's resolution is to wrap up that SM64 hack I'm working on, I think progress on that has been slowing down since it's been so long since I've started it. I'm hoping to get my current levels done and released so I can start of fresh on a new hack.

While I'm at it, does anyone know if there is any good DS music hacking tutorials on the internet? I'd love to see if I can attempt a few MiDi imports for SM64DS.

I'm guessing that it's only model importing that's doing your head in right now?

If it is, and you still want to want on the SM64DSe despite the lack of motivation, perhaps you work on other areas in SM64DS hacking. I'm sure something like music hacking would be an interesting area to explore (and there's quite a bit or NDS music hacking done though NSMBDS as well) and wouldn't be that complicated to implement.

Just my advice, I can fully understand you discontinuing this project if you're not motivated in it.
