That wasn't funny. Quit making a fool out of yourself and appreciate the fact that someone made Waluigi playable in SM64DS.

I imported Donkey Kong into SM64DS. The patch is for the European rom, and as usual, the character replaced is Mario.

I would make an expand dong joke, because this actually expanding my dong. xD
Jokes aside, I'm loving this!

I've actually been waiting to test MKDS via AltWFC for a while now, but I haven't found anyone who'd test it with me. If you need someone to try it with, PM me. I'm curious as to how it'll go myself.

Good thing you jumped on to this security update.
Safer the better, and the site is working perfectly fine as always!

Are you going to make custom music?

Indeed I am.

I figured a few people would come over here to note that SMSRealm is down, but the sad news is that the site is officially dead, and is gone forever due to a 'corrupted kernel' issue, but no worries, I will be bringing back the SMS hacking community under a new name and will have partnership with Kuribo64 just like SMSRealm did.

Anyways, I know a lot of people were hype over this map image discovery, though you might not want to jump on the 'restoration wagon' just yet. Very recently, there was a meeting/discussion amongst the staff of SMSRealm, confirming that sometime after Project Galaxy, will be a
SMS: Spaceworld '01 restoration in the works.

We're not ready to present the mod just yet, because it's very early progress, and we have rough theories at the moment. But I just thought I point out that it will be a thing after Project Galaxy.

Patch (European Rom(EU)(M5)): https://www.dropbox.com/s/y16hxib3pgwdvp2/Waluigi64DS%28EU%29%28M5%29.zip?dl=0

I have finally perfected my Waluigi hack! Waluigi is now in SM64DS in full scale (he's as tall is Waluigi is supposed to be, unlike my previous Waluigi mod.) Now the legend of Waluigi is in your hands, use his power wisely and dominate Super Mario 64 DS as Waluigi! (Waluigi replaces Mario)

Nice improvement! Maybe you could try contacting Fiachra and see if he could help you with an ASM mod to import Waluigi as his own character and place him in the white colored double doors in the character select room.

I think that he is focusing on Project Galaxy for now.

Welp, good news. Super Mario Land 64 is back. (:
After a long break, I'm finally back on track and continuing the mod.

I'm gonna try to get out a new preview of it as soon as possible.
Sorry for the long waits, peeps. B-)

So, I played this hack, and to be honest, I didn't really find it all that impressive.
There's a lot of key stuff that is inaccurate in this mod. If you were legitimately
restoring the alpha version, there shouldn't be any actual music in the game, which according to the stock footage, clearly shows that any form of music was not present in MKDS's earliest of builds.

The physics of the kart felt a bit tweaked (I'm not certain on that), but the final drifting is still there.
The HUD looks pretty nicely done.

I appreciate the fact that you added in E. Gadd, but he appears broken for me, and E. Gadd wasn't even in the alpha, hell his model wasn't even complete in the kiosk demo, so it probably would've made more sense if you just made E. Gadd use the Toad model/features based on what evidence we have in regards to any actual prototype.

It's pretty neat seeing in the custom models you have, but I feel like a project such as this is rather pointless, considering the fact that we already have a kiosk demo in our hands, which by the way, basically has everything 'beta' on it a la debug menu.

I'm not saying this project is incredibly bad, but it's definitely far from accurate.
A lot more needs to be done on this mod.

Yes I know that alpha is incomplete, however no music is boring.

I know it seems boring, but if it's suppose to look convincing to a legitimate build restoration, it should be replicated identically, otherwise you wouldn't be able to call it a legit restoration.

Posted by Ambiance 69
Also I didn't have a way to disable music, so I decided to use music. And the early MKDS in GDC 2005 had the title music from MK64. The E3 2004 version had a different GCN Yoshi Circuit and Standard Karts

Ah, I see. not even importing a blank file over each music or deleting the sequence data could've removed it? Possibly hardcoded music etc? Also, the early build of MKDS did have the MK64 title music, but that automatically means it was in the 2004 build, which was incredibly vague and empty? Maybe restore the early '05 prototype?

Chain Chomp was planned as an item; later reprogrammed as Bullet Bill
E. Gadd and Birdo were planned as playable characters; the pink Egg kart that's found was possibly for Birdo

Interesting, though was there no evidence of either Birdo or E. Gadd existing in 2004 build, iirc.

About Courses:
PLANNED: GCN Mario Circuit | Luigi Flipper | Pipe Place | DK Circuit | Koopa Troopa Beach | GCN Block City
NAMES: old_mario_gc | luigi_course | dokan_course | donkey_course | nokonoko_course | mini_block_course
REPLACED BY: DS Mario Circuit | Waluigi Pinball | Figure-8 Circuit | DK Pass | Cheep-Cheep Beach | N64 Block Fort

I'm sure only for luigi_course and donkey_course, because they look extremely similar to Waluigi Pinball and DK Pass. I'm not sure about others.

NEW PROOF: HEART ITEM

Heart item from Mario Kart Double Dash was also going to be in game, because in MKDS Beta's SDAT file, SeqArc => GLOBAL_SE_COMMON, you can find 2 sounds: SEL_HEART and SET_HEART_ITEM_GET. They're used in MKDD for the Heart item but they don't play in-game in MKDS Beta. Their internal names show a proof that the Heart item was going to be in MKDS and possibly replaced by Boo, because both Boo and Heart have similar functions.

To be completely honest with you. As far as MKDS 'beta' restoring goes, I'd like someone to restore a visible menu on the debug screen of the kiosk prototype. That'd be both beneficial, and completely accurate. I could see it completely in command prompt format as well.

As far as E. Gadd is concerned:

However, how he got to Birdo, is a mystery.
Yes, there is a Pink Egg1, but it doesn't mean there should be a Birdo in the Game.
The inverse of Green = Pink, so it may have been used for Test purposes.

Oh, and as far as the Courses go, all of the "Planned" Courses served solely as Test Courses (unless Nintendo had a different purpose, but we'll never know).

Yes, they were only test courses.
The '04 prototype didn't even have the test courses, because the test courses were later level designs after the '04 build was presented for upcoming levels such as what became Waluigi Pinball in the long run. Also, any beta related restoration shouldn't be treated like a playable game either, considering that ALL prototypes/uncommon variation copies have features for debugging, unless it's some sort of public demo (even though the MKDS Kiosk Demo basically had the feature, but just hidden from easy usage).

Also, I'm adding some MKDD stuff because there's a proof that the MKDS as supposed to be based on MKDD:

http://www.mariowiki.com/List_of_Mario_Kart_DS_pre-release_and_unused_content#Menu.2FHUD

Read the "Menu & HUD" section carefully.

Personally, I don't think you know what you're doing with the project. Like I stated earlier, the only mod that would be necessary is a visible debug menu on the kiosk demo and a possible multiplayer restoration in the kiosk demo as well.

That would require re-programming which I can't do.

If you can't do it, then leave it up to someone else who can?

StapleButter is right. There's no way in hell you're going to get anywhere with this mod, unless you have an impeccable team of 'uber haxorz'. I'm working on a team project myself, and it's nowhere near easy. I'd suggest coming back to the project later, if you find anyone willing to chip in for a team collab.

Not saying it's a bad idea or anything, but you're definitely going to need help and probably a lot more time.

I haven't heard any news in months. It's college, correct?
