Quite a handy tool you got there, Jesse.
For a "second program" that you made yourself, it's very nice.
I'd love to help with the 3D files, but alas I have no experience with that sort of thing either.

I don't know, I still like the idea to have Yoshi's power be squirting fruit juice and turning enemies into platforms like in Sunshine.

It'd only make sense for Yoshi to squirt fruit juice like he did in the original Super Mario Sunshine anyways.

I see no ASM in this.

Also, making the graffiti behave exactly how it does in SMS would require assembly yes, but your way would work too.

you should add more mario kart stages for your hack (like 3)

I'll see what I can do. Unfortunately, I'm running out of space, but I'd definitely like to add more stages that involve the kart.

If you're going for the N64 charm, I'd go for that high pitched voice that Luigi had in his early days. Use the Japanese voice, or just increase the pitch of Mario's standard voice clips.

The first two Smash Bros. games blatantly re-used Mario's voice clips with a higher pitch for Luigi.

Yeah, I also noticed how bleak Brawl Delfino Plaza is compared to Sunshine's version, but it was the best image I could find.

EDIT: I saturated the background a bit. How does it look? Personally I think it looks just like Sunshine's now.

I got bored today and wanted to create something "new". A new custom level after a very long time. This one is the Comet Observatory in SMG2 - nothing special. It will have almost everything: the domes (exterior of course), music, Red Star, Lumas, Rosalina, Toads, Trident Planet and One-Up Shrooms. I also added a Comet Coin and Power Star. The galaxy doesn't replace anything and can be easily accessed from World 1 above Sky Station Galaxy.


This mod looks incredible.

Shadow Mario model was found by Stomatol


I've NPC swapped Shadow Mario and he seemingly can do everything the normal Mario can do.
It appears that Shadow Mario doesn't actually have an animation set,
which means that the developers have set Shadow Mario to behave exactly
like Mario and use Mario's animation table interestingly enough.

Current bugs that need to be fixed:
-The scrolling textures don't behave properly for some reason, nor the transparency
-One of the hand models are missing

Piantissimo is also playable!
Similar to Shadow Mario, Piantissimo uses Mario's animation table as well.

You should try swapping both Shadow Mario and Piantissimo, so then you can squirt Piantissimo and race Shadow Mario, kind of like racing Cosmic Mario. :D

That'd be kind of cool to see, actually. I'll try that. B-)

It's great to see that Mario Kart 7 has been hacked.
It makes me wonder if there's a way to make all of the different colored Shy Guys playable from local multiplayer mode in the single player and online modes.

You'll need an MK7 ROM, some Command Line Tools, and a 3DS, capable of Installing .CIA Files.
Other than that, the process is very similar, to Mario Kart DS Hacking.

Is it easy to boot mods on 3ds? Like how all you have to do to get mods working on Wii is just to launch an exploit to install HomeBrew and load codes?

Well, it's closer to the way you do it, for MKDS, SM64DS, or NSMB, but you'll need to keep a few differences in mind:

1. There is no 1 Format fits all System, like on the DS:
Unlike the DS, in which you can simply make a .NDS File, for all Users, the 3DS comes with:
.3DS, for the GateWay 3DS Users.
.3DZ, for the Homebrew/Ninjhax Users, even though you can't use any kind of Piracy with it.
.CCI, for Dev Kit Users with Flash Cards.
.CIA, for Dev Kit Users without Flash Cards.
.CIA, for Custom Firmware Users.
I also heard of ".3DSX", but I don't know what that is, so I'll skip this one, for now.

2. Building a ROM takes a much longer time, and Testing a ROM takes even more time:
There are currently no Emulators, that can play Mario Kart 7, so you're forced to use it, on real Hardware.
If you're using a .CIA File, Importing with all the ROMFS Files included, takes about 11 minutes, stripping it down to only what you need, will take about 4 minutes.

3. Custom Firmware takes a while to work:
I heard a lot of people saying, they need at least 11 Power Downs/Ups, until Custom Firmware boots up.

4. Save Files are a headache:
Unless you're using Save Data Filer, or a more recent Version of Dev Menu than what's available, you will lose your Save Data, every time you Import the ROM, making it very difficult to Test a Glider Hack, for example.

5. Tools are in early Development:
While Gericom is Developing Every File Explorer (and yes, you can find its Source Code on Github!), the Tool is still in its very early stages.
For example, KMP Editing is not possible yet, unless you're planning to do it through a Hex Editor.
Being able to edit KMP Files is very important for CT's, because otherwise, your Track will either Crash, Respawn you incorrectly, make CPU's dumb, make you go Out of Bounds where you don't expect it to, just to name a few problems.


Wow, that sounds really complicated.
So I'm guessing the easy way would be to apply a mod to a MK7 rom and load it through Gateway 3ds?
