also complex stuff like enterable warp pipes won't be added. kids would have a hard time choosing witch destination it will go to. Adding a destination ID and stuff like that MAY
be easy but what happens when someone mix matches the ID's together? NO ONE wants to deal with a wii U crashing/freezing. also the Kooplagang's and yoshi will be out because theres nothing much you can do with them ._. . using them in certain scenario's will cause the game to act weird... and getting away with the subject of _{complex crap and shit like that} i kinda like the idea of springs being able to cooperate with alot of stuff, but still, we'll always be better :big:

Thing is, you're looking at it like modding; more than likely they'll keep Yoshi, but IDs and all that will be behind the scenes, so kids won't have to worry about that shizzle. I think it will be very very simple, just placing blocks, enemies, and warps. Warp pipes are almost certainly in the game, because THEY WERE ONE OF ITS FOUNDING BLOCKS. It's easy to make destinations match up behind the scenes when all you do is select it and click an option which shows all other areas in the level you've made.

someone can make a pipe enterable but not set a destination ID. and if they do put Yoshi, than they'll have to re-ASM/code 90% all the sprites that'll be in Mario Maker. check out Reggie_Mod_Newer, place a sprite, click it, and click notes. it'll most likely say Yoshi doesn't work or interact with this sprite.

...what are you talking about? This is made by Nintendo? So they literally have access to all the code?

...what are you talking about? This is made by Nintendo? So they literally have access to all the code?

coding isn't a walk in the park. it takes time and effert. even if your nintendo. they'll have to re code everything, and update models and animations +more! it'll take time, and effert to make animations on yoshi. and nintendo is trying to make mario maker garbage. seriously? 2 enemys.

Trust me, I know. I've been a game designer by hobby since I was 8. But it takes a lot less time when you have a team of 10+ people. It won't take much work comparatively on a game dev scale. And creating a level design software already takes more than 10x that effort. I suspect they will be re-coding mostly everything, as they need their game to be completely bug free, no matter how the objects interact.

would it be possible to bring back Bowser Jr/shadow Mario scene, you know, he was the MAIN boss in the game. And he was the one who drew paint on the wall witch aloud you to go into the courses

I was thinking, why not just replace the rabbits models, animations, and sound with Shadow Mario. This may very well emulate what the original boss was. You could ASM hack some basic stuff to get it to work better in the game, like spawning a star. Just an idea I thought worth sharing.

Now that I think more on it, it probably would require more ASM hacking than a said for it to look good, however the rabbits could still be a good base.

I was thinking that frog thing that appears when you get close. he would be much easier to ASM him because he already hurts you, you can't catch him, and in super Mario sunshine, bowser jr would pop out/disappear out of nowhere!

When did Bowser Jr. randomly pop out? I don't remember this. Also moneybags (I think that's the "frog thing" you are talking about) does not, to my knowledge, follow a path. In SMS Shadow Mario follows a set path and you have to chase him and spray him with water, he never really "attacks" but if you collide with him you lose health, he would also leave "muck" trails to hinder your movement. The challenge was mostly avoiding falling off the world when chasing him. At-least that is what I remember from playing Super Mario Sunshine. My rabbit idea has pitfalls because colliding with rabbits will not hurt you and there is no "muck" in SM64 for the rabbits to spawn. Perhaps what the game needs is a new boss, while I personally think money bags doesn't make a Shadow Mario it made me think that money bags could be an excellent base for modification into a different boss. Moneybags could be enlarged and chase you around the map!

Progress looks great Fiachra! Will you be using your own "episodes/stars/missions" in the game or is the idea to port as much of the original Sunshine as possible and modify/add where necessary?

Anyway, I found out that I'll be able to get the game a few days after it's release, which is nice, since it's been 4-5 years since I last got a game that close to the release date :<
