Whitehole is being ported to Java, for C# doesn't allow for good portability. A new branch has been made to host the Java code: https://github.com/Mega-Mario/Whitehole/tree/java This branch will be made the master branch when the Java version becomes atleast as functional as the C# version. You're right. As I said on IRC, a drama-filled community like SMG2.5 has a negative effect on the hacking scene. Intelligent hackers are leaving because they can't stand the drama, and you never to contact them again. I'd like, if possible, to have something more kickass than the banner recycled from the old Kuribo64
The current banner is, y'know, this: The alternate banner is this: It was contributed by a user named Mike on the old Kuribo64. What I don't like though is those white dots around the DS. It makes the thing look like a rushed job. But perhaps we can remake it in a better fashion. If you wish to make your tools use the ObjectDB, here's a quick guide about how to download it from your code. There are two possible methods.
1. Raw download Download from https://kuribo64.net/whitehole/objectdb.php. This gives you the XML file. 2. Clever download This is the technique used by Whitehole. For this, you download from https://kuribo64.net/whitehole/objectdb.php?whitehole&ts=<timestamp>. <timestamp> should be set to the timestamp of the local file if it exists ('timestamp' attribute of the root 'database' element), otherwise zero. If the latest ObjectDB edit is less recent than the provided timestamp, the server will return the string 'noupdate'. Otherwise it will return a CRC32 of the XML file, followed by a '|' character and the XML file itself. The CRC32 can be used to check that the received data is valid. If you add &gzip to your URL, the data past the CRC will be compressed using gzip (and the CRC will be on the compressed data). In both methods, the server sends Content-length headers that you can use to determine the length of the data to download. Looks nice. Just try to make the text a bit more readable (shadow/outline/whatnot) and it'll be fine. Also italics on a pixel font doesn't look that good imo.
