So I was wondering if you guys have any insight into how hard it would be to simply make a hack where coins kill you on contact. I'm trying to learn a No-Coins run of the game better and it would be extremely helpful in practice if coins just killed you and didn't add to the coin counter (since I obviously don't want that going above zero). I have almost no ASM hacking experience, so any advice would be helpful. Thanks. |

ASM hacking is at the moment hard. But if you want to delete the coins, you can hold (if you start the game ) after the 3DS logo A+B+Y+X to delete everything (but not the DLCs). ____________________ i make stuff |

I'm aware of that, but it doesn't really help any. I can already negate coin collection by simply exiting to the home menu and closing the game before exiting the level. I was more just trying to find a way to make practice less tedious. Not only that, but having a hack where all the coins kill you just sounds cool. |

Oh maybe, if you collect 1 coin, the complete level explodes ? ____________________ i make stuff |

Well, in theory what you would do is trace the code that is called when a coin is collected, and trace the code that is called when you die by enemy contact, and redirect the coin code to the death code. I don't know arm assembly myself, and if you don't, resources exist online to learn it. As for how to trace the code, I have no clue, there may be resources online for that too if you look. ____________________ Switch on latest firm happily playing Smash daily PC with an i7-4790K, RX480, 16GB ram Various other consoles that are hardly used due to emulation existing |
