We're working on stuff for the next trailer. Good designs and models for next trailer > Rushed designs and models for next trailer.

We have the potential to make people really excited, especially since a lot of people were disappointed with 3D world.

Whats our progress with animations anyway. We would have to be atleast 3/4 done if this will be released in summer.

Considering the process of creating animations, I don't think we're going to have something ready in time. Though I DO have an idea for how I could hypothetically animate something...

Well blah blank needs to add support for dae importing. Then we can do a ton of stuff with NEW MODELS.

This project is nowhere near a point where it needs anything more advanced than the current model converter. I can see no reason why you would even begin to consider thinking about animations when you haven't even made one single level for the game.

This. Not to mention that aside from potential texture animations like scrolling water textures, planet models are going to be static. The only models that would need animations are enemies, and we aren't even able to make custom enemies yet.

We can duplicate enemies and make it "new" but using the joints that we can use if .dae support was added.

And, once again. Really, saying that we haven't made a single level. Come on now, THIS is why we made a promo site. THIS is why we are making a trailer.

WE DONT HAVE ENOUGH PEOPLE TO GET SHIT DONE.

We're lacking certain categories of people, and few modelers that can do stuff. Plus, we don't spend our asses on the computer all summer.

We want to get the big parts of programming done, so we can start with all the tools and editing we need to make our levels, so shit isn't interrupted because we can't do something.

I wouldn't say we lack people necessarily, it's just that the process of importing a model, modeling collision for it, placing it in a level and then placing objects, enemies, camera areas, etc. takes a very long time. We shouldn't ignore important things like animation just because we're still working on levels. It's not as though we're taking away from one part of the project to work on another.

Well still, I don't want to stop a whole level just because of something that we can't edit at that moment.

What I'm saying is, why can't we just get animations, and all that other stuff WORKING, so we don't have to worry about it later, when we need it?

Because I don't give a shit about animations. I have absolutely no intentions of doing any work to support animations any time soon, if ever.

The big parts of programming are already done. You already have a level editor and the ability to create new planets. That's all you really need to create new levels, yet no new levels have been created. And personally I'm not motivated to spend any more time programming tools for a project that seems unable to actually produce anything.

Yes blank, you are so absolutely correct, this is exactly what I think. There's a reason you were the creator of the multitude of programs we use at this point. ;)

Saying "no new levels have been created" isn't really fair. We have 4 levels in progress right now. Making 3D levels takes a LOT of time.

I do agree with Glem3 somewhat, there are about 4 levels in progress right now. I do believe we will release another trailer at this point. But blank is still correct in many ways, this animations thing is a long way down the road.

It is, but I was hoping we could get it in the trailer to entice more people to join, and keep people interested in the project.

I agree with blank. As I already said, messing with animations is useless if we're unable to make proper custom enemies/objects. So, first get the level base done. And after that, if we get good custom enemies made, we can always go back and place them in the levels where they were meant to go.

tl;dr we don't need custom enemies to make working levels. When you build a house you don't start from the roof, do you?

We can always try one of the Bro Variations that we've been talking about on the IRC. They don't have to be used for this trailer, but it could really show off our next trailer. Each trailer should bring something new to the table. (First one had custom planets, 2nd one will have ice flower/flying star, and 3rd one may have custom enemies/animations).

So basically; there will be no animations for a while. So, we just have to deal with what we already have, and work off of that. ;)
Seems so.

Well, now let's focus on getting the levels done for this trailer, and we will plan accordingly.

It's too early to be thinking about beta testing.
