Alright, I came up with the name for this galaxy, so I should should get some part on this. In my original design, I had a huge planet that is all dirty and dark with bones layin' around. And in the middle of the planet, is Dry Bone castle. In Dry Bone castle, there are a lot of Dry Bone troops guarding the place. Along with Boos and Bomboos as well. You would solve some puzzles, then reach the boss. The boss was supposed to be a Huge Dry Bones, similar to the Dry Bones boss in Mario Party DS - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=przLButz-ck . (This was obviously all based on BowieZ's theme.)
But, he also has normal dry bones troops surrounding him. I was thinking to throw Boo Mushroom in there as well.

I love the idea of a x2 Scaled Dry Bones

How would you kill the Super Dry Bones? A normal Ground Pound might not be enough.

Umm, idk, maybe have him fall into a hole?

The super dry bones is the exact same thing as the other ones, it would just be a scaled up version. If one of them can trigger the switch, they all could.

But remember in the NSMB games Super Dry Bones need a ground pound to be "killed"

Yeah, it's nothing fancy, just a switch and some normal enemies that fool you into thinking it's a boss. You could even have several phases if you wanted, spawning other enemies too. It would all be switches but it would be an amazing way to "create" new boss battles.

:O LETS DO THAT!

Hmm, the first part of the level should completely focus on atmosphere. Spooky music, bones and rocks everywhere and being eerily void of enemies would create a great effect. No ghost galaxy has ever tried to be anywhere like spooky.
Could the level be something like, starting with a small empty plain with bones and jagged rocks everywhere ; then a small climb up the side of a spire of rock, to enter an utterly empty catacomb lined with bones, with many paths like a maze, and lit with blue torches ; then emerging onto another plain with a small abandoned fortress in the middle, this time with a swarm of Dry Bones instead of bones, so that Mario has to run to fortress. Inside, he has to platform upwards, while avoiding and being swarmed by Dry Bones (like a smaller version of Hooktail's Castle from Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door), with the boss at the top.
As Ghostly Graveyard is focusing on Boos, and graveyards, this should be totally different. :P

So the boss would be just a scaled up version of a Dry Bones, spawning loads of normal Dry Bones.
How would the defeat sensor work? Can it count the number of times it's jumped on?
It would be more like a miniboss, but still. Great.

There's always a light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, it's usually an oncoming express train.

Slow and steady gets you trampled by the other guys.

If we could do that, we'd probably be able to make anything a boss :P

You can't have it detect how many times the boss is jumped on but you can tie something to detect if they are all "defeated". It's the best we can do at this point

I'm assuming that we can somehow tie IDs together or something so that when the big dry bone is dead, all of the other mini-ones are too?

Most likely not, plus, it wouldn't matter since the big dry bones only takes one hit anyways.

So we can't make the Big Dry bone trigger a switch which would cause the Dry Bones to die? Aww...

So, how will the Big Dry Bone die exactly?

I don't think you understand that the big dry bones is the same as all the others, except with a different scale. If one of the dry bones can trigger the extermination switch, they all can together. basically the switch checks to see if ALL are defeated and then triggers whatever it is hooked up to, in this case a powerstar and camera.

NWP, you need to stop making so many assumptions. What makes you think that drybones count as dead when they're jumped on? I'm 99% sure that's not true. They only count as dead if you run into them with a star or sink them in quicksand. If anything, maybe the boss could involve platforming to a switch that fills the room with quicksand, killing the giant drybones.

We could also potentially do something to make the floor more hazardous during the fight (EX: Poison?)

I was assuming that even if they didn't trigger it, it would be simple enough to patch a memory address and make it do so. But your idea works too. Plus I don't know how hard it would be to "kill" ALL of them before they respawned. So, yeah, that works too. It reminds me of that one part in PM:TTYD

Yes, where Mario had to bash his way through a crowd of Dry Bones (they pushed him back) to reach a Red Bones, which had summoned the Dry Bones crowd.
Then where the boss could revive slowly if his minions were alive, and vice versa.

Hmm, would it be possible to test that? Probably hard though.

Red Bones? Is that even possible?
