http://tcrf.net/Super_Mario_Galaxy_2/Unused_Level_Features

There are some things I documented. I'm not sure if all of them were discovered yet.

So I decided to look into LightData and found E3 content:

[E3]ヨッシーデモ2
[E3デフォルト]サーチワンワン惑星
[E3デフォルト]ヨッシースピンドライバー2

Translated:
[E3] Yoshi Demo 2
[E3 Default] Silver Chomp Planet
[E3 Default] Yoshi Spin Driver 2

Yes, there's a lot of stuff like that. There's also a bunch of unused text but IIRC most of it has been nuked.

Yoshi can mix the Dash and Bulb power-ups together.

Rainbow Mario can dash about 32800 units before running out of time.

smg2_galaxy08_strm.ast has Yoshi drums!

They even work in-game if Yoshi is added to Star 2 of Tall Trunk Galaxy! I tested this. Just...if you do the same, don't touch the Slide with Yoshi, or the game will crash.

I actually want to see the debug of that crashing.

I never actually tried it myself. I just saw it in a video, I think it was one of Martboo48's 'Super Mario Galaxy 2: Curiosities with _____' videos.

I decided to look into the font files and found many interesting symbols I've never seen in the final game, including blue chips and the midway flag.

Which symbols are unused as well?

Those are used in the MSBT files as a command (or if you're editing it, a tag). As for which ones aren't used in any MSBTs, that I can't answer :P

Yeah I know. It's interesting that the red star isn't in the file, while the texture animation for red stars are still present in the model file for power stars.

I just would like to know but, does every galaxy has a midi like format? while the music is in a mp3 like format?

They never leave things like that by mistake. A designer would be sure to catch it and delete it.

Wait...How come the Dry Bone disappears? 0.o
Well I think it might disappear because it is too far away from mario so it can't be spawned, but I'm not really sure because I'm not the best at these kind of things.

IT doesn't just disappear. The post right after that one says it FALLS because it's placed in MIDAIR, which the picture, admittedly, does not convey particularly well. If it disappeared due to distance, almost every galaxy in the game would be brokenly enemy-lacking because all the enemies would vanish immediately, aside from the ones on the first planet.

SMG1's PlanetMapDataTable shows us the order of how they made their planets. In there, they divided stuff into categories as an entry.

▼new まだ未確認の惑星

▲以上、古めの惑星含む

▼以下、古めの惑星含む

Translated:
▼ planet unconfirmed still new

▲ or more, including planet of older

▼ Below, including planet of older
