Well basically what I said was that it warmed my heart to see how much we contributed to your childhood. I wasn’t too much older than you when I found SMG2.5! I’m also 100% with you about how it made a compelling story; the drama, tense deadlines, and constant disappearance/reappearance of characters made it downright operatic at times. It wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows but damn if it wasn’t a fantastic time in retrospect.

I’ll admit I checked the “Mosts” thread from last year to see if I still made it...alas. Most shocking thing to me though is how I’m still the 9th highest poster or something. My average posts per day isn’t even that far below 1, which is downright unbelievable. I posted enough back in the day to hold me above statistical water for the following four/five years. Unreal. A lot of my adolescence is straight up archived here.

Seems this board is on the quieter side these days but it’s honestly had an amazing run considering what a niche audience it caters to

Ik this forum isn't as big on galaxy hacking as it used to be, but I found some SMG2 modding videos in my YouTube recommended the other day and got a rush of 2.5 nostalgia, so honestly I might try to take a crack at an actual mod one of these days. I slapped together a logo and some planetoids yesterday, and I'll probably start some music today. I'll likely only post it if and when it's finished to my liking, so, uh, don't wait up. If nothing else, it's nice Blender practice

Apparently it's morphed into a YouTube/discord thing, SMG mod videos are somehow regularly getting 100k+ views, even in the past year. Seems like Aurum just sustained it by sheer force of will and gathered a few disciples along the way. Nothing but respect for that

Sometimes I wonder where MrRean is these days. It's pretty weird to think about how much time I spent on the shitty IRC in 2013 - to the point where I made all these friends whose handles I remember to this day - but I've lost track of all of them completely. Nowadays I guess it would've been a discord server, and we could've kept up after it all went down. Shame.
