But yea, XP is lightweight compared to 7 and some things still support it. Making it very ideal for Linux users virtualising it on lower end machines.

while i didn't have AOL instant messenger, my brothers had it and I thought it was so cool, but I was too lazy to get one.

rip aol instant messenger, may have never used you but you kickstarted the whole chatting with people thing.

I remember kicking back when I was like 6-7 years old on MSN Messenger, but never really got the proper AIM experience. I'm from the UK, so I don't think it really took off over here.

IRC was the real start of chatting to people, especially groups and chat rooms, but AIM kicked off IM in general I think as a proper trend.

And on the subject of IM, tbh I feel like Discord will end up just like all the others: dead in 3-4 years and surpassed by something else.

It's happened to every single IM service (IRC doesn't count, although it is on the decline it still has a fairly consistent usage especially in technology-related fields), so it will probably happened to Discord too give some time.

Last view: 2743 days ago 		It'd be best probably to install a qwebirc client on the server directly, I don't think that one masks hostnames at all if you choose not to do so (or at least it displays a hexadecimal variant of the user's own hostname).
