Web IRC clients are generally a gateway for banned idiots to dodge their IRC bans. I'd vote against using one. |

KiwiIRC is probably the best one out there but it masks the hostname so... |

Oh, okay. ^^ Not sure what else to say otherwise.
But yea, XP is lightweight compared to 7 and some things still support it. Making it very ideal for Linux users virtualising it on lower end machines. |

You'd be better off getting a good desktop than a good laptop - laptops have terrible inbuilt microphones. |

That's the issue. I don't tend to think things through and end up making very rash, rushed decisions. |

I speak British English, not that warped stuff you Americans claim to be English! (Jokes)
I want to learn Japanese, however. ![]() |

Posted by StapleButter This wouldn't be a bad idea. I'd love to debunk everyone's thoughts that biological/physical sex is the same thing as gender identity. |

Yes it does but my favourite Linux distribution (Android-based OSes count as they use a modified Linux kernel) is Solus.
I like Windows 7. |

Posted by salty I remember kicking back when I was like 6-7 years old on MSN Messenger, but never really got the proper AIM experience. I'm from the UK, so I don't think it really took off over here. IRC was the real start of chatting to people, especially groups and chat rooms, but AIM kicked off IM in general I think as a proper trend. And on the subject of IM, tbh I feel like Discord will end up just like all the others: dead in 3-4 years and surpassed by something else. |

I said 3-4 years, not that it will die right now. It's happened to every single IM service (IRC doesn't count, although it is on the decline it still has a fairly consistent usage especially in technology-related fields), so it will probably happened to Discord too give some time. |

I like Pepsi. |

It'd be best probably to install a qwebirc client on the server directly, I don't think that one masks hostnames at all if you choose not to do so (or at least it displays a hexadecimal variant of the user's own hostname). |

Mutter isn't too bad for a mobile client, although it's iOS-only. |

I don't mean Discord shutting down, I mean people going to other services. It happens all the time in the IM world, something overtakes another in popularity for a while, and then it slowly dies off, and cycle repeat. |
