Goedendag (that's Dutch for g'day), I'm Staryu Trek. I'm currently making a SM64DS hack, which I'll make a thread about soon, but I'm also in for a nice chat. And just like in my introduction post on NSMBHD, I'm out of stuff to say right now.
Staryu out.

Hello hackers! I wonder, how do you animate textures on objects? With animated textures I mean like the water in the vanilla game. Because the water texture scrolls, it looks like the water moves. But that's geometry, and I know how to apply animated textures to geometry. But objects are something else... see, I want to animate my custom ? Block (like in the 2D games) and skybox (adding a band of horizontally scrolling clouds) textures, but how do I do that? How do I enable scrolling textures on objects?
P.S.: Another question: I want to edit the Touch Screen camera buttons and the Power Meter. They aren't 3D model textures, so I can't really seem to open them in SM64DSe. I don't even know where they're located. So, where are the aforementioned image files located in the ROM?
Thanks a mighty lot.

Granted, you get nachos without cheese... and without nachos! An empty plate! :3 8-)
I wish for more activity on the board from people who follow the rules.

I don't know if you mean the player character's head icon on the lives HUD ot the player character's head icon on the minimap, but I do know they aren't textures, so you can't open/view them in the texture editor. I'm having a similar problem with the camera buttons and the Power Meter, which are the same kind of files. IIRC, NSMBe could open that kind of files (I could be wrong here), but if you can do anything to edit them in SM64DSe, I don't know.

AI generated food. Sounds like the food replicators from Star Trek. You say what dish/drink you want and the replicator materializes it.
Vanilla SM64DS or SM64DS romhacks?

SMWCentral and Bulbagarden are highly active boards. NSMBHD... well, there are days that no one posts, but generally, that board's doing OK. It isn't dead. Kuribo64... well, you can logout, login again a week later and no new posts have been submitted. Which sux if you need help when it comes to SM64DS hacking *cough*because I do need help with a SM64DS hacking topic*cough* and nobody helps you. Not everything has been documented on this board yet...

For signposts etc. can anyone tell me how the parameters are calculated into the message ID? Because the ObjectDB description is... not at all helpful. What I do now is taking a signpost of which I already know what text is on it, edit its text and place it in its new location. But how do I calculate a signpost's message ID from its parameters?

Also asked on NSMBHD. Ndymario said I should ask it here. Fingers crossed to get an answer...
The NSMB ASM Patch Template is outdated now, and I don't know for how long NSMBHD will still provide a download of it. The next best thing now is the Code Template, which, combined with NCPatcher, allows for writing C++ code for NSMB. Ndy told me NCPatcher is compatible with every DS game, but he didn't know about the new Code Template.

I noticed the above poster checked this thread today, so bumping it to reply to their post is OK.
Patches can be legally linked to or uploaded here. Uploading ROMs is illegal, and linking to them as well. So no, it's not allowed to link to a ROM found on another website like Instagram. But linking to patches is totally OK.

The main forum index (accessed by clicking Forums on the menu above), is down. It now throws a 500 error. And it's only the main index - not the pages of the individual forums.
EDIT: Nevermind, this can be closed. The problem seems to have fixed itself.

Given that the OP lurked in this thread today, I will bump to answer:
1. I don't think so. See, different regions of software usually have slightly different code. A custom symbols keyboard likely does some hex edit or something else code-related. It's the same reason we have one version of an original ROM we use for hacking.
2. Well... learn how the 3DS is coded! Nuff said! Maybe you can get some help with that on gbatemp.
