Hey, sorry for bumping such an old thread, but changing the bit marked "Unknown 26" affects the solidity of surfaces (tested in the editor on an unslippable rocky surface with normal camera). 1 makes it non-solid, 0 leaves it as is, so it seems to be a boolean. This is further backed up by the "window" in the play room (also non-solid) having it set to 1. There is also at least 1 CLPS entry on the 1st floor that uses it (ostensibly the entrance to the Secret Aquarium), but I didn't check that.

Hello, I'm FallenLogic (same name on other websites), a hobbyist programmer and 3D modeller. I've been following Kuribo64 for several years and finally decided to make an account. |

This is more of a cosmetic hack than anything, since there are no drastic changes to the game aside from the Freezeflame Galaxy Ice Planet replacing Bob-omb Battlefield. The first star is climbing to the top of the mountain, the 2nd is for collecting red coins, and I haven't figured out the rest yet. Have some screenshots (ignore the broken minimap)!
The "launch star" is actually just a quad above a warp, so jumping through it sends the player to another area. I ran into a problem near the end of the 1st star, since I can't figure out the CLPS for a wall-jumpable surface (I even copied some from the "Castle Grounds" level), but everything else seems to be in working order. - FallenLogic |

Yeah, I'd love to join or at least contribute something to the project! I've been following it on Discord for a bit, saw it mentioned in a Tetrabits video.
I've been doing quite a bit of freelance work recently, so I'll be working in between that, but just let me know what I can do to help, since Super Mario Galaxy on DS has been a dream for so many people for a long time now. |

I've joined the Galaxy DS project, and I have created a nearly 1:1 replica of the original level:
It's also now over Snowman's Land since the freezing water is hardcoded. I'm tidying some things up, and then Freezeflame Galaxy's Ice Mountain Planet should be done. |

To display vertex colors in Blender (tested in 2.8), go to the top of the screen and select 'Layout.' This brings up the default view. On the right side of the screen, at the top or bottom depending on your settings, are some buttons with spheres - these indicate the shading type. Select solid. Then select the mesh you want to edit the vertex textures of, and in the dropdown that says 'object mode,' scroll down to 'Vertex Paint.' This will render vertex colors and let you modify them. |

For anyone in the future that finds this thread, don't do what I did and load a previously created save - you'll still start as Yoshi. This only applies to the beginning of the game. To get to 0x13DDC, using HxD Hex Editor or similar, use, as SolarZ said, Ctrl+G (for HxD) and input 13DDC. Ctrl+F will search for the string instead of the address.
Also, like above, make sure the 'Skip Intro' patch is applied (More > Additional Patches in the SM64DSe home screen). |

There's a Waluigi hack already at this point, but to answer the original question of how to edit the Play Room textures, open the area in SM64DSe, then export the model in whatever format you want (its materials should be in the same folder it's exported to). Use GIMP, getpaint.net, Photoshop, or MS Paint to edit the textures, then reimport the model. |

Hello, I was attempting to use the newer patch in v2 of the ASMPatchTemplate to add launch stars to a hack of mine, and I followed StarPants/Pants64's YouTube tutorial (the code compiled, looks like it was applied, since the filesize and checksum changed), but the model obviously isn't in the game's files, and attempting to add the overlays from above to the game just throws errors. Does somebody know how to apply the new version?
Thanks in advance! |
