I'm writing this post as I'm downloading that, so I haven't looked at it yet. Before I look at it let me say I've already got an idea for a life meter.
*looks at it* That actually looks pretty nice, but I don't want to have two similar-looking gauges on the screen at once, both for space and aesthetic reasons. I'm still going to go with my idea, which will be to have the player's health be an outline around the existing ammo meter. I'll post a picture once I get it finished. So to make this more visually interesting, I'm thinking about making the game's world look as if it's made out of glass -- like glass blocks, prisms, etc. And maybe have a special white light beam that, when fired into a prism, splits into individual colors, creating a super powerful all-colors attack! Or maybe have stained glass that changes the color of a shot that passes through it. I doubt it'll happen soon since I'll need to find a good shader (or maybe create my own) but that's the idea I'm going for. ____________________

Yeah I agree a lot of the designs just aren't realistic. Those galaxies had a lot of tight enclosed spaces that absolutely killed the camera, and you're right that Solar Coaster's gravity was too complicated for its own good. I personally haven't ever really seen Whitehot as an especially original idea for a level but if it's almost finished we might as well keep it.
Basically we need designs with plenty of open areas; even that model Stomatol made is a little enclosed for the SMG camera. ____________________

I like how you expanded on my idea! Though maybe not specifically mention nuclear weapons in a Mario game 
What I'd love to do is create remixes of the music that somehow fit the altered setting. ____________________

Ok we need someone to draw up a design for part of Sky High star 2. Remember that vertical rocket interior bit we had for a while? It's basically that environment, except 2D so the camera actually works. ____________________

Yeah the rocket is vertical and you're supposed to go from bottom to top. The original 3D design for the rocket involved the spring shroom so if you want to use that in 2D go ahead. Glem we're pretty much avoiding enclosed spaces altogether but you could probably do something similar to how the pill planet was set up (with the camera on the outside) ____________________

Those all sound pretty awesome, but it looks like some of them, including the Wet Dry World music is already being used in that other project so I'm not sure if they'd let us use them. ____________________
