How has everyone's summer been going? Mine's been rather uneventful
Posted by Arisotura
mine's full of a whole lot of nothing

see, I kinda wish we could organize things and, yknow, do stuff.
put some variety in the bland everyday routine.

well, an event did happen.

heard a boom, looked at the window. full black. called mom instantly.

our windows were completely dark for a solid minute, due to the fast-travelling black smoke smothering the side of the building. there was pretty big fire particles flying about in the dark.
after that the smoke became more visible and slightly less constant, so we were able to see how fucking fast it travelled. and holy shit that was a sight. it was stinking so bad even with our windows closed, because the holes around the sides of 'em are too wide.

so, what happened. a bike parked in the bikes spot exploded in the street, shortly followed by all the other bikes doing the same. five bikes total, for a huge ton of toxic smoke. our plants pretty much died from that.

this kept up until the firemen came and put it out. it slowly cleared up, until only steam remained. we were eventually able to see the damage, and let me tell you the street light next to the parking slot fucking melted. it still stinks a huge bunch, and will keep up for a while.
the bikes are in cinders.

firemen checked on the residents of our building, asking for headaches from smoke and all that. we are ok thanks to having the windows closed when it happened, but I wonder how it went for people who didn't. it travelled so fucking fast, it would take a mere second to fill a room.

so um yea, that was.. not your usual day. I guess.

oh, seems they don't allow hotlinking. it worked fine on my end because I viewed it from the site first.
should've refreshed since the pic was cached. my mistake.

also sure, have at it.

but uh, also... you browse gelbooru?

yea. any comments?

gelbooru, danbooru, they have slightly different perks and pitfalls, as well as different rules. I use both for different purposes.

general rule of thumb, you should ask around to see if something is viable before to throw yourself into it.

that said, in Swig's case I guess you can just use wifi when you need to play games or whatever.. right?

kinda sad to realize everyone plays 1 v 1 stock while I sometimes yearn for people to join me beating up wario or something

a note about that. if you're referring to games like left4dead2 you play on hardmode all the time, how would you go about playing with people like me who don't have the skill to do that yet? I've refrained to play with any of you three for that reason (also connection and the fact my pc burns if it does anything for too long, former's getting sorted)

I doubt playing on medium would be half as fun if you're used to hard. outside of, yknow, watching the nooby struggle. that's gotta be interesting to see

I'm one day away from exam, and I am doing this. great.

anyway, backstory. I have a New 3DS XL and it's worked great so far, only now it's got an issue with the Dpad.
I'm not under warranty. I'm pretty sure I flat out refused warranty and I'm happy with my choices

basically the pad goes haywire when trying to move vertically, and also doesn't do great horizontally. recalibrating in settings did nothing to fix it, but it clearly shows it won't respond as intended.

the pad had mild issues before now, but today specifically it pretty much broke. it's not dead, just dysfunctional to the point three seconds of gaming frustrated me more than an hour of grinding.
I don't know where to send it for repairs, I'm not so trusting of Nintendo's customer service. nor am I too trusting with my ability to do any tech, I'd hate to purchase the required parts for a manual repair only to mess it up. third-party repairs don't seem to offer d-pad related fixes.

so, not sure what to do. any ideas?

so it unclogged apparently, but it's not perfect. kinda feels the way it did before it 'broke' (i.e misbehaves when you do sudden fast movements).

Swig, I did see tutorials that explain the replacement and provide tools/replacement parts for it, but the price adds up quickly.
still, I might grab the required jargon in anticipation for an actual break. I just want it to not fall apart while I'm on vacation or whatever.

I lack a pressurized air can to try and dust it. and if I do, it's probably gonna stick somewhere else inside.

also Ariso, I'd be more willing to travel where you live than rely on mail.

okay yea that's much further than I thought you were. whoa

as for the screwdriver, that's convenient. if all I need is the replacement part alone, it's roughly a mere ten dollars. what's costy is the industrial screwdrivers and misc tools adding up.

which I lack, because I hardly do tech maintenance so I don't have specialized equipment.
thinking about it, the several defunct consoles from when we were kids must be a treasure trove of parts. I'm actually curious how much of it can be restored.

well I simply played through l4d on normal, which was a challenge for me to say the least. I just assumed my level was low.

admittedly I couldn't clear the last stage because AI is garbage and I'm not even 100% sure I'm supposed to jump into the horde to go reactivate that generator that always deactivates no matter how fast I boot all three

gave up on that pretty quick because I saw no value in trying.

got a little into l4d2, but my progress is negligible. I did get to the part where you just carry a whole pile of gallons next to a fancy car and then shove them down all at once because you're lazy to fight six hordes

oh, that. I simply blocked the parent element from showing up and called it a day. no regrets

I generally have that rule set to my layouts, but I stopped because it interfered with times where I do want it to display in full lenght no matter what

that and mobile disables layouts on many boards we're on so to mobile users the issue is still there.
heck I'm not adding it manually everytime I make a post. nor am I adding a fancy exception class to my layout because I just forget them

would you consider this dead?

would you do anything about it if you had the incentive to?

last time's was a wasteland already, do we need to do that again?
