Hi there. I'm nekholm. Some might remember me from RVLution. Since it looks like it's never coming back, I thought I'd join you all here instead.

The avatar was made by someone (can't remember who), because I maybe was a little bit negative once or twice (or maybe a lot of times). But that was then. I'm nicer now.

I'll probably mostly lurk and participate in some off topic discussions, as I have no experience in modding.

NES. It's not the one I had as a kid, because it got lost over the years. This one I found a few years back at a thrift store.

www is pointless anyway

Even more pointless (and horrible to look at) when it's www.subdomain.realdomain.com. And when someone puts www in their email address, like www.nekholm@hotmail.com. Why would you do that!?

You wouldn't like melonds.kuribo64.net then.

As Yami said, I meant that it's ugly and pointless to put www. before a subdomain. Unless it's a short domain name. www.kuribo64.cjb.net doesn't look that bad, but www.kuribo64.staplebutterswebsite.net looks horrible.

www. as part of an email address is, fortunately, very uncommon, but I've seen a few.

NES, SNES, N64. Also played some Game Boy Color games, my best memory is of Link's Awakening DX, that I played on our vacation in Poland. A classmate had a SEGA console, can't remember which one though.

Watching movies on VHS was fun, and listening to music you had recorded on your cassettes.

The first computer we had came with Windows 3.X, and we had it for a long time. I remember classmates having Windows 98, and we hadn't even made the transfer to 95 yet.

I need a new laptop, my current one is 8 years old and slow as shit. Out of these two, which one should I pick:

HP Notebook:
- CPU: AMD A8 quad core 2,2 - 2,5 GHz
- RAM: 8 GB
- GPU: AMD Radeon R5, shared memory
- Price: 499€

Lenovo Ideapad 500:
- CPU: Intel i5 dual core, 2,3 - 2,8 GHz
- RAM: 6 GB
- GPU: AMD Radeon R7, 4 GB
- Price: 549€ (down from 899€)

Other than that, they're pretty much the same. Both have a 256 GB SSD, Lenovo has 2 USB3 ports and 1 USB2, HP 1 USB3 and 2 USB2. Lenovo has a backlit keyboard which sounds nice, and a camera that recognizes gestures.

I'm leaning a little bit more towards the Lenovo, just wondering how much of a different it makes if the CPU is dual core or quad core?

EDIT: I'm not using it for anything "heavy", like playing the newest games and stuff. Just basic things, like web surfing, watching videos/movies, listening to music etc. So it doesn't have to be a high end gaming computer.

I have to say I'm really satisfied with this new computer. I can't believe how fast and quiet it is! From pressing the power button to browsing the web in way less than half a minute. My old computer takes at least one minute just to get to the log in screen. After five minutes of waiting, Chrome has finished loading. Plus the fans make a lot of noise.

Another cool thing is facial recognition. I'm just sitting here when the computer starts, it activates the camera, looks for my face, recognizes it, and I'm logged in :D

Microsoft gets some minus points though for fucking around with my password. I tried logging in to my OneDrive using my Microsoft account, it tells me my password is wrong. I'm sure it isn't, but I change it just in case, and it still doesn't work! So I change it a few times, and it just doesn't work. I say fuck it, make a new account, and that doesn't work either. WTF!? Then all of a sudden I can log in with my original account. BUT I can't log in with the same username and password on my tablet.. I also can't sync my calendar using my iCloud account for whatever reason. I read a lot of forum posts about it, and apparently I have to set up 2 step verification on my phone for it to work. Tried doing that, and now I have to wait three days before I can activate it and (hopefully) be able to set a specific password for my calendar so I can sync it.

And no, I haven't installed Win 7, Tail OS or any other Linux based OS. Despite the few setbacks, Windows 10 is all right.

Speaking of Windows 7, I think that's one of few Windows version I haven't used. Don't think we ever had a computer with Win 1 or 2 on it, but for sure 3.x, 95, some NT version (pretty sure), 98, 2000, XP (how great was that?), Vista for the longest time (probably 10 years), never had a computer with 7 on it, installed 8 on an old computer because it was new and interesting, and now 10.

Speaking of OSes, I did try Ubuntu for a while. Didn't use it pretty much though, I think I had some problems with the audio, it wouldn't work half the time when I wanted to listen to music.

And now I'm rambling. Sorry for the long post, here's a potato:

Good night.

What movie(s) did you recently watch, and how did you like it/them? What TV shows are you currently watching, or have just finished watching? Discuss them here!

I'll start with five movies I've watched this week:

Daft Punk Unchained (7,3/10)
Documentary about the electronic music group Daft Punk. Worth a watch if you like electronic music.

The Karate Kid Part II (5,9/10)
A sequel to the original Karate Kid (duh).

Jackass: The Movie (6,6/10)
Jackass Number Two (7,1/10)
Jackass 2.5 (6,5/10)
A bunch of jackasses perform dangerous and idiotic stunts. Some are fun to watch, some are just cringeworthy.

TV-shows:

Friends (9,0/10)
Classic TV-show, really worth watching.

Joey (6,0/10)
Friends spin off. Joey moves to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career. Not a classic like Friends, but worth a watch after you've watched Friends.

The Ranch (7,6/10)
Two brothers and their dad work together on the family ranch. A lot of drinking and swearing, so not for young kids. Many appearances by actors who starred in That 70's Show.

Top Gear (8,7/10)
Funny car show, with test drives, challenges, stars in reasonably priced cars, and more. Currently watching season 7, so I've got a lot to watch.

Yesterday I watched two movies:
Jackass 3 (7,1/10)
More crazy stuns.

Heavy Metal (6,7/10)
Weird animated movie with an evil, green glowing orb and lots of boobs.

Am I the only one who thinks TV isn't the same anymore?

Probably not. I'm a sucker for 80's and 90's movies. Comedies like Police Academy, Naked Gun, Wayne's World, and all kinds of action movies from the 80's and 90's are much better than what we get now. Of course there are good new movies too, but most are not as good.
