I'm not sure if that'll fix the problem. It's not about the size of the space, it's ensuring the image always sticks to the bottom of the post container.

Hm, I give it to you that, but it's has nothing to do with the design itself, but with the tacky effects splattered on them.

Hey, any of you dislike using sites like Mediafire and crapobucket primarily because it takes a decade to load your content and when it scrolls, it lags, but Dropbox and Imgur seem to not have this problem?

Modern designs are confusing, especially all those single page Websites, that all have a menu, which just gets you to a lower point of the page.
Also, normal Websites having a huge arse Banner/Logo need to die, that's simply eye cancer!

Okay, that's tacky as hell. Even some official government sites fell into the "modern sleek hip cool" trap and I think it got hugely criticized for its layout.

I like gnomon btw, but I dislike its page. It got a huge ass animated banner and it's pretty difficult to navigate.

I like the idea of auto-driving cars though. And Google happens to be one of those developers for some auto-driving cars.

Maybe he means by modeling software not being able to recognize it!? I don't know either.

Well, I do have my concerns about self-driving Cars.
I mean, it's not like everyone will be able to afford one, and a lot of people who drive in a 'manually driving' Car are total idiots, which will guarantee even more accidents.
And unfortunately, I was right...

(Just search for News regarding this, there are to many Links I would need to share.)

About your "a lot of people who drive cars are idiots", isn't that the reason driverless cars are even considered in the first place? And just because people around those driverless cars are idiots, it has nothing to do with driverless cars in the first place since accidents by idiots happen regardless. Yes, there are liability issues, but that's another story.

I know of a simple way to do that. You need to turn your image into a background (another class to add to your CSS) and call it right after the normal background but not after the post box.

Basically: make another <div> between .DK-burgers and .Mario-vomit (great names) and put apply some CSS to it.
{background: url(http://www.mariowiki.com/images/archive/b/be/20160129041424%21Mario_OK%21_-_Animated_Sticker.gif) bottom no-repeat;min-height:[MINIMUM HEIGHT HERE];}

You're going to need to remove the min-height and padding properties from your background and add it to this extra class, but it should work. Hell, that's how it works with my post layout (there's two separate images, one that always sticks to the bottom).

Thanks a lot (and also for the compliment)! It helped tremendously! Well, there's a big space there in small posts, but that can't be helped, I guess. I should probably increase the padding around the main message and maybe make a signature composed of text, but I don't feel like adding bargledygoop. Also, my box would cover the image if the post is too long, but I guess I'll just pad the bottom??? Edit: Did it. Have some Wario hot dogs. :P

reminds me of something that could be cool: a class checker; you give it a CSS class and it tells you whether someone is using it (or if it's used by the board)

might also help you generate class names that aren't used...?

Since it's easy to keep track of who uses post-layouts and who doesn't maybe make a list for now, if we haven't?

I don't know whatever happened at imageshit or why it thought it was a good idea to break thousands of images people have uploaded just so it can try desperately to swindle people into buying their "premium" shit. I mean, even if I was greedy, I wouldn't do that, I'd do other cynical things like impose an upload/linking/bandwidth limit and if people went over the upload limit prior to the implementation, their images won't break, but they have maybe 20 more images they can upload before being locked by a paywall. Sure, it's dirty and people would just switch to other services, but it's still smarter than what imageshit does.

Bump, interesting thread, but speaking of sharing original files, I think staying safe is a sure bet, but honestly, as you put it, having just model files and textures and sprites shouldn't be a problem in of itself since you can't replicate the gaming experience with just those. One might argue that people can use these files and put them in monetized games, but those usually never turn out well, see Era's Adventure 3D, Mole Kart, and that Chinese knockoff of Super Mario Galaxy. But even the free stuff can be taken down, just as what happened with Super Mario 64 HD, since I believe it too closely replicated the experience of Super Mario 64. Still, that brings up a question: you could make pretty-much-perfect Super Mario Bros. SNES replicas with Super Mario Bros. X (which isn't taken down, although its project by the main developers is halted because an alleged, not proven legal notice by Nintendo) so again, it's a gray issue of replicating gaming experience.

On another hand, some cloud sites even have an issue with uploading mere game files, including MediaFire. My sister had some notice by MediaFire with problems on Kinopio.arc, but I think it's some algorithm bullcrap but why would it filter out that file, I don't know. It's copyrighted, yes, but... a lot of other files in my MediaFire, which INCLUDES .brstms, .pac/.pcs (Brawl-specific files), .psas (Brawl-specific moveset files), and others remain untouched. That's really weird.

There's a huge disadvantage of choosing to make file sharing illegal in which is makes it very inconvenient for everyone here, given that this is a ROM hacking site, which file sharing should be reasonably expected. And while there is some small legal caution, it makes me wonder why we even have Models Resource, Spriters' Resource, where Nintendo HAS acknowledged their existence in the past, which host a boatload of copyrighted content, like complete high-quality rips and even fully rigged Mario models (and some models even have animations!). Why is it okay for those sites to host huge amounts of content, but we can't? Is it because they're in .png or .dae or .obj while game files we can't share like .arc aren't extracted and decompiled? Again, I'm baffled by we can't really share stuff like .arc files but we have a lot of sites that share .brstms.

tl;dr copyright is a hot, convoluted mess

Man, that sounds like it's happening already.

Just imagine what would happen.

"Ah! I have sensitive information in there!"
"You signed your rights away to our terms of service, it says so right there."
"......"

You know what other trends should die?

Shitty algorithms used for stuff that's clearly not suited for it. Which means a hell lot of false positives. It's not just Youtube copyright crap, it's also in Facebook, where you could get harassed for saying "niggardly" (a completely innocuous word, mind you, despite its spelling) or even reposting a blog entry you particularly like by morons and those same morons who don't like your beliefs will abuse those algorithms to annoy and then even ban you. Yes, that has happened (and the author of that article also got harassed on facebook by the same type of jerks). If YOU report the harassment? Tough shit, nothing ain't gonna happen.

Well, there's that, but I don't know, wouldn't keys and manual override still be appropriate measures against thieves and hiijackers? I don't see how that's different from, say, someone rigging your car to self-destruct or something... I don't know. Wouldn't stop road rage, but driverless cars aren't mean to stop that, they're meant to address human error in driving...

One thing I want to die is Disqus. You have no control over it, you have to pay for it, and the fact you're paying for/own some form of hosting means you have 0 need to hand the responsibility of handling comments to someone else. It's a scam. Apparently they only test their services on the newest iPhone and Google Chrome for Windows, so good luck getting it to load. It's also one letter away from being called Disqust.

So that's what's wrong with Disqusting. I always thought its user-hostile layout and comment moderation were crappy, but there has to be more to it.

But the manual locks can be lock-picked...

My question would be that since crooks and thieves will just do about anything how would that make it a case against driverless cars in of themselves?

Posted by supergamecube
What if a self driving car were speeding? Who would get the ticket? There could also be dirty police, who would hijack the car, make it go faster, then give you speeding ticket.

Wouldn't the owner still get the ticket for not paying attention to the car? Maybe? You're acting like you have no sort of control over the car, especially with your "have it take you right to [hijackers]."

I'm wondering, does Google even have Smart Locks?

You do realise, we live in an age we can't trust any government at all, right?

I don't know about you, but I do appreciate my Social Security, public schools, financial aid, accommodations, and healthcare...

Posted by StapleButter
I believe the politics bullshit is obsolete and we should just have a government that gets things done

I'd like it too, but everything's so friggin' complicated. It makes my head spin. I don't want Republicans make anything they like to happen happen, but Republicans don't want anything I'd like to happen happen either.

Posted by StapleButter
also, what do you use to open the smart lock? see, you can forget it too

(unless it's some part of your body, but those locks aren't smart locks)

You use your phone, I guess. That's what a lot of services are being tied to, even vending machines.

I'd rather have government than no government, I'd rather have federal government handle things like what I mentioned above than pretty much anything else. I have faith in government, but I'll always criticize when I can.

Posted by StapleButter
you can lose your phone or have it stolen, so it doesn't really change anything

(other than increasing the number of things where you're royally fucked if you lose your phone)

I know, I know, but I'd imagine that's what you'd use. Definitely not on-board with "use your phone as a credit card, use your phone as a lock, use your phone to control your house (yes, smart houses exist), use your phone to help you vote", and so on, although I have to admit, it's awfully convenient.

No idea what that is, but if you mean stuff like FBI, CIA, NSA, etc., it's your choice whether you trust those or not.
NSA: Your privacy at danger.
CIA: Grand founders of ISIS/ISIL/IS.
Now we will only need to know what the FBI really does.

In the U.S., at least, Social security is a federal government-controlled program that's part of social welfare (retirement pensions) but government controls as well as medicaid, ensured deposits at banks, FAFSA, CDC, EPA, and a bunch of other things that would be much harder to live without in modern society. You'll have to trust the government to pay you pension when you retire, help your kids receive a quality education, construct the roads, manage marriage and the property you're on, manage the water supply, subsidize the gas you're driving to make it affordable, maintain public parks, maintain the environment (although U.S. has a bunch of global warming deniers in Congress), administer vaccines and other health-measures. It's hard to distrust the government when it's doing so much that you can't avoid it and you already trust it to do all of these services. Even if you don't live in the U.S., your government is still probably doing a lot and probably even more since U.S. doesn't even have universal health care.

But unlike them, I don't check Mainstream Media, as those are filled with Propaganda, False Flags, and other bullshit.

What makes you think the "nonmainstream" stuff doesn't have the same thing? Where are you getting your information from?

I mean, that's the same argument cranks use to deny basic facts like "vaccines are good for you", and make false, outrageous claims such as "CDC lied to cover up the link between vaccines and autism".

Posted by StapleButter
it all depends on how much of the car is controlled by the computer

Yeah, on that aspect, not sure what the degree of control is, but maybe it'll be like autopilot?

That, and lack of good contraceptives especially in places like Niger. In many developed countries, like in Germany, growth rates are actually going down.

Well, anyway, in a similar note, I don't get why we get complaints about "sticking to the dumb start bar" when I really dislike the... thing where there are squares everywhere and it looks like it's going to be hard to find things when I'd rather use file explorer or the quick launch or the start menu (I like to keep my desktop icons at a minimum and look at people who cram their desktop with icons with a scoff).
