Hi guys.
I just applied the ASM template, and everything was fine.
Now almost every level has a messed up minimap.
It's just... strange. Never happened to me before.
Here the screenshot:

Oh, hi user.
Now, I know a lot of things about SM64DSe and hacking. Things like modifying text, modifiyng textures, objects parameters... Now I would like to "jump to level 2." What do I mean? I mean, I would like to learn Hex Editing. For example, what is an offset? How these numbers and letters do work? Another example is the unused map selector. To use that, I need to change an offset with, like, 0x(numbers and letters). What is an offset? I think you understood what I mean. Overlays, too, how do they work?
Could someone explain me how this "level 2" works?
Maybe you could add this to the getting started thread.
Thank you.
-Alex.

How can I extract an image from an overlay? I did not understand your process. Could you explain that more clearly? Thank you.

- Open the ROM in no$gba and open the VRAM viewer
- Select the "BG3" tab for the title image
- Looking for the highest and lowest tile addresses we can see that the tiles (NCG) occupy memory addresses 0x06204000 - 0x0620BF80, 32640 bytes:
[thumbnail][thumbnail]
- Looking at the map addresses of the upper left and lower right tiles we can see that the map (NSC) occupie memory addresses 0x6200800 - 0x6200DFE, 1536 bytes:
[thumbnail][thumbnail]
- Select the "Palettes" tab
- We can see that the title image palette occupies memory addresses 0x5000400 - 0x500058E, 480 bytes:
[thumbnail][thumbnail]
- Within the main window, select the memory viewer (bottom left panel) and then for the each of the above three memory starting locations:
-- right-click and select "Goto"
-- enter the address without the leading "0x" and hit enter e.g. for the tile enter "06204000"
-- Utility > Hexdump to File
-- enter the size in hexadecimal without the leasing "0x" e.g. for the tile enter "7F80"
-- select a location and hit "Save"
- Open SM64DSe
- For each of the three hexdumps:
-- More > Hex Dump to Binary File
-- Choose a location and hit "Save"

Thank you for using your time to help me! C:

I followed your steps... In the editor everything looks fine, but in game it does not show.

Fiachra, I've got the bin files, used NSMBe to replace a minimap, and in game everything looked fine, but in the editor, I setted it like you did in your screenshot (the one in the old post about the title screen) but I get an error loading the image.

Hi guys.

In Super Mario 64 DS, we have an hidden map selecter.
With this tool, you can enable and disable this hidden function with one click!

Here is the link.

https://mega.nz/#!38ZHSaqQ!DZ5cdIYz0v_57yW1w_gNhboH-98_WBDttt1_6SORt1c

That tool is nothing special, just something for people who doesn't know hex editing.

You must use an european version of the rom, and you must use the Super Mario 64 DS Editor patched version.

Write in this thread if you find something wrong.

When you click on yoyr save to lo ad The game, if you succesfully used The tool, you will see a screen, with Evert mal nane. By choosing a nane, you will be spawned in that map.
