Posted by StapleButter Though on the other hand, Android isn't much better unless you have a Nexus or Motorola phone. It takes forever for devices to be updated to the most recent version of Android, and in many cases they are never even updated at all, which leads to there still only being a small percentage of Android users on 5.x. On iOS they at least keep the old devices updated (though a 4S running iOS 7/8 is pretty damn slow.) |

I wouldn't suggest either Arch or Manjaro as you're completely new to Linux... Some update or something that requires user intervention will happen and you probably won't have any idea what to do.
Instead, I'd suggest using Ubuntu MATE; it's Ubuntu with the MATE desktop, which runs very well on low-end computers. I've installed it on a laptop with similar specs to what you have there and it has worked great so far. As for distro upgrades, unlike what Yami says it really shouldn't be an issue... I've done two relese upgrades on that laptop so far, and nothing broke as a result of it. |

I use Arch myself, been running it for about three years now.
And yeah, I guess I gave the Ubuntu update process a bit more credit than it deserves, I have had it break a VM once. |

Posted by GreenThunder1337 I'd suggest avoiding running applications in WINE if you can. It is not yet at a state where you can just use whatever Windows application you would usually use without running into issues, not to mention the complete lack of integration with the rest of the system. Which applications were you thinking of running in it? There are most likely Linux alternatives to them. |

For the SM64DS editor, I think that works in Mono, though I may be wrong.
As you might've found out already, WINE often does not just run stuff out of the box. A lot of stuff that some applications may need to run isn't included because they don't have an implementation of it yet or whatever. You can install a package called winetricks which has a bunch of useful options for installing this stuff. You'd for instance need .NET for SM64DSe. As for paid solutions, there's CrossOver I guess. |

Mobile sites that have ridiculously small text and disable zooming are incredibly annoying, and it's even worse when it's not easy to get the desktop version or they ingore the option in the browser to request the desktop version. How the fuck am I supposed to use your site when I can't read the text? |

About WASD... It's because of third-person shooters or generally games where you need to move around your character with the keyboard while also controlling something else with your mouse. Sure, you could use the arrow keys for this, but it wouldn't be as convenient as there aren't as many easily-accessible keys around them to use for actions other than moving... |

It's almost as new I think. The only issue is that the reset button on the console likes to get stuck, so I'll have to see what I can do about that... |

What's your opinion on spacing between lines in fonts used for displaying code? I find it rather unnecessary and distracting, especially when used for the terminal. |

Linux, maybe?
WINE supposedly runs older Windows games very well, even better than Windows in some cases. |
