that's how they aim at controlling the internet, really: by concentrating everyone to huge, monopolistic services
that's also why the HTTPS shito worries me: it could well end up being used as leverage to restrict the internet to the big, rich actors for example, imagine more scandals break out around cheap/free CAs, and it's decided that those are bad and are to be outlawed or banned from browsers or whatever and at the same time, HTTP is deprecated end result would be that if you can't pay big bucks for your certificate, you can't run an amateur website like Kuribo64 so not only would small actors be locked out, but websites would have to pursue rentability to stay alive, so you wouldn't get a Kuribo64 at all (unless a bored millionaire decides to throw their money into that) for reference, we're still paying shito at the time (domain and VPS) but that is affordable, and a totally different price range than 'proper' certificates ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

well, considering they control the browsers already (the amount of work required to build a standards-compliant browser these days, let alone making it fast and keeping up with the forced march of 'progress for the sake of progress', excludes amateur coders and anything that isn't a company)

God I usually refrain bringing up how much I hate climate change denial in the light of the hurricane. Makes me feel I'm scoring political cheap points but at the same time it's so hard not being angry at them when I'm seeing people suffering from climate change (or at least climate change amplifying the weather; it might, might not cause Florence but it certainly didn't help). Don't let deniers like Roy Spencer tell you otherwise.

So, some dumb shit happened to me on a Discord server earlier.
I went to post screen shot of the latest course in EKDS that Ermii made, since it looks pretty damn good. Surprise, surprise! They have a bot practically moderating the server, and it warns me for posting "duplicate text", when I have posted collections of different screenshots just fine there before, and no human saw any issue with it. So instead of posting 5 different screenshots in a single post, I have to post each of them separately one by one. This is a very good example of why bots, and AI aren't fit for filtering content, or making rational justifiable, logical decisions like a human would. Absolutely abysmal. When did people start taking pointers from YouTube? Well, not all Discord servers have it. You should maybe ask the server owner about that stupid bot. StapleButter's conclusion from it is paranoid IMO.

but seriously, are you sure nobody ever posted any of those screenshots before you did? yknow, since you input direct links.. it's either that, or somebody said something remotely similar to the URL. if the bot ignores specific characters for formatting reasons, there's just so many ways to output fasle positives. soon enough, discord bots will hunt your ass for saying mario. LGM will battle it out for us. |

I hate this trend of people deploying silly bots to do the jobs that a good admin/mod used to do, post reporting is good,but that's where it ends for me.
