Something I've been thinking about is that, as far as self-defense goes (and without taking guns into the account), is a knife usually the best tool to use? I've heard that if someone is holding a knife, it's difficult to disarm them without injuring yourself. I don't know if it's true or not, but, it's something I've heard a few people say including my mother, who has a security-related job.

I'd go for just for security measures, easily calling the police, and maybe some exercise especially in running. If you're that obsessed about self-defense, invest in a dog or a goose or something.

Knives are far less efficient in killing. Stabbings suck, but because they happen doesn't make it an argument against gun control. You're always going to have criminals committing crime, but what we can do is make it more difficult for them to kill.

This is a case where someone kept a goose as a pet that did its job at guarding the house. Not aggressively, more like being really noisy. It seems like they're a gentle breed too.

They can be pretty delicious, so I've heard.
