Please elaborqte on that. Your question is pretty vague.

I think he means like what is your position in this project, what are you going to do, reverse engineering, modeling, sounds?

Well, my job is to fill in for all of the positions I don't have people for yet. Which is every position right now.

I also lead the project, making sure stuff gets done and people don't loaf around and all that. :P

If you want my opinion, this project is pretty unrealistic , and a very overly ambitious, rarely anything like this ever gets done at all, from what I've seen, unless you're paying your team.

I hate to be the naysayer here, but it doesn't seem like you have any experience,
and the fact that you don't have any screenshots, or videos, or evidence that you can actually pull something like this off makes it feel even more questionable.

Feel free to correct me on anything that I may be wrong on.

True, while this is my first time doing something of this caliber, I have planned for this to take a lomg time because I have little experience. I'm learning on the fly. So while there is little here to go by, I intend to give this my best even if I don't finish.

What little experience I do have involves learning how to read PowerPC assembly (until the IDA PPC decompiler gets leaked), learning how to use the Nintendo Revolution SDK (which I happened to find online a few days ago) and learning C++.

Decompiled PPC (or any assembly code) isn't gonna give you much information to work with nor workable code. Its just assembly code converted to what IDA thinks is an accurate representation of that code in C. You still have to understand what is going on underneath and give IDA as much information as you can. Like defining structures, data types etc.

I'd recommend you invest a lot more time into learning how to read and write PPC, writing applications in C/C++ and possibly games. I doubt doing this project and learning everything on the fly will get you far.

Maybe not, but I'll try.

Also I found a *modern* game engine that can make games for the Wii! It's called Shiva 3D. A quick Google search can find their website. The only caveat is that you have to have the Wii's Revolution SDK and the Wii versiom of CodeWorks installed. I believe I can't link to it here, but give a search for "Latest Wii SDK" and you should find a forum post that has a link to the latest version of the editor: version 3.2 patch 3. Don't download any one that says 4.5 as it's bogus.

Thats actually kinda cool! I hope this project goes well, even thought it seems pretty impossible. Good luck anyway though!

Nothing is impossible ! We are doing research for this project, and I can tell you that we find a lot of things !

I *may* be finding some stuff too, because I *may* (or may not) be exploring CodeWarrior, compiling .elf, and a few other things.

may

I agree with SGC, I think that this project is really big and you won't be able to do this with your current experience, you should try to do a simpler port first before you try to do something as big as this.

No. Currently seeking a game engine to work with. Not dead by any means. I am the only person working on it directly, but I have some friends on Discord who have helped me a lot with getting connections. Thanks for the curiosity and as a reminder ports of games take years to produce, even with a professional team. Thanks and hope you stay interested!

Is this project dead? It's ok if you can't do this, it is really ambitious anyway.

Doopz do you not pay attention to anything? If you would look up like 2 posts from yours you would find your answer.

But I tried to build a large ass map in Mario Kart Wii's engine, thing imploded multiple times, I don't think the wii has the beans for such an endeavour unless you do a minecraft and use distance fog not loading 1:999 of the rest of the map at a time.

I never got to play BoTW but I think I heard it has a huge single map to explore without warps between sections like OoT.

Mario kart wii wasn't even that graphically intensive, mind.
