J3DBmt is a tool to import and export data between BMD and BMT formats. BDL models can be used as well. This tool was originally created to make things easier when importing models from Super Mario Sunshine, as the BMT format doesn't seem to work for the Super Mario Galaxy games. Basically, BMT files store the actual materials and textures that are used for the model; the data in the BMD files are placeholders. The source code and downloads can be found on the Github repo: https://github.com/SunakazeKun/J3DBmt

To extract material data from a model file, use
J3DBmt.jar -e inbmd.bmd outbmt.bmt

If you want to import material data into a model file, use
j3DBmt.jar -i inbmd.bmd inbmt.bmt outbmd.bmd

Woah, that is really cool. It can really make this stuff easy!

...although, it doesn't have an interface. I can do the same thing I did with wit if you want, all I did was make it a bit more automated and noob friendly using Batch files.

If you can use batch files, you won't have any problems using this tool... Well, if you want, you can provide a batch file.

It saves data from BMD/BDL files to BMT files and vice-versa. This is useful when porting models from Super Mario Sunshine. Some models in that game use an extra BMT file to load the materials. This doesn't seem to work in SMG, though.
