I have tried many times to run this but i keep getting this:
There are files missing which are required for CoinKiller to work properly:
/coinkiller_data/blank_course.bin
/coinkiller_data/entrancetypes.txt
/coinkiller_data/levelnames.xml
/coinkiller_data/musicids.txt
/coinkiller_data/spritecatergories.xml
/coinkiller_data/spritedata.xml
/coinkiller_data/tilebehaviors.xml
/coinkiller_data/tilesetnames.txt
/coinkiller_data/languages/English/translations.txt

Please Redownload your copy of the editor.
What do I do?

The coinkiller_data folder needs to be in the same folder as the executable.
If you do not have that redownload as the error says.

Also please don't use this thread for questions. Use the help thread for this kind of matters.

The folder called "coinkiller_data" must be in the the same folder as the program.

I just clicked it with Qt.

This is a problem I have too when compiling the editor from source. When compiling, it gives me that error. The only way for me to fix it was to move the coinkiller_data folder into the compiled folder Qt makes, during compilation.

I'm 99% certain I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know what.

This is perfectly normal since the executable file is generated in the build folder and also run from there. Therefore it also looks for the coinkiller_data folder there.

You need the model file (.bcres) and ohana3ds (not rebirth)

Well for now, I'm laying the bases out. Went with C++ and Qt, but might switch back to C# (QtCreator is derp, and getting Qt to work with VS is probably a pain).

The upcoming NSMB2 editor will likely be similar to Reggie! in functionality, interface, whatnot. First versions will operate on raw files (.3ds or .cia), further versions may also work on individual game files à la Reggie!. Reason is that for now, given the lack of a 3DS Riivolution-like, this will be the easiest way to test levels. (and honestly with how much of a pain it is to make a Riivo-like, it's better off as a part of a CFW, like in the NTR CFW)

It's also not based on any Reggie! fork, it's something fresh instead. <a href="https://github.com/StapleButter/CoinKiller">Source code!</a>

<i>but I don't have a Gateway</i>

Ninjhax can be used to launch CFWs or whatever that can run unsigned CIA files. Or maybe Citra can run NSMB2. Rest assured that there is a way out of this shit. Maybe it's not convenient for you, but there's a way out.

<i>why not merge efforts with Reggie! NSMB2 or whatever it's called</i>

I don't think Python is the right language for building this kind of project. Otherwise I'd gladly join forces. I also want to have some fun, too! We haven't been writing new level editors in ages nowadays.

<i>.3ds? CIA? Gateway? but that's working in favor of piracy</i>

Quite honestly, with how fucked up the 3DS scene is, I don't really care about piracy. Not like this project would have an impact on piracy or overall cause Nintendo to go bankrupt.

And even if a 3DS Riivo-like existed, you still couldn't prevent piracy. On the Wii, it's convenient because you just have to require the original disc (although you can use a modchip and a burned disc, but that's more involved than what the average pirate can afford). But on the 3DS, there's no point when you have things like Gateway or ability to install any title to the system by converting it to a CIA. Bascially, any efforts at preventing piracy are futile.

I'm not in favor of piracy, I just keep my time and energy for what makes sense.

<i>I have butterflies stuck in my nose</i>

Grab a tissue and blow real hard. If not enough, go to the Kuribo64 Hospital.

<i>whatever else</i>

Just post. The thread is here to collect opinions, thoughts, whatnot, that could affect the editor's building and make it the most awesome software of 2015 2016. We want to hear you!
