depends what you want to do. in a lot of countries, school is increasingly stale.

My experience:
- Primary school is useless, slack off if you want, grade 1 to 8 are of no importance.
- High school is important in the last 2 years. Grades 9 and 10 are also of no importance. Grades 11 and 12 though, are important because they dictate which university you'll get accepted in, if you get early admission and if you get scholarships. Here in Canada only grades get you in post secondary, while in the US you gotta do the SAT which can either help or not depending how well you do.
- University/College is important, but marks don't matter if you pass, unless you want more scholarships or want to get in a special program. Some majors dictate what job and salary you'll get. Actually, no. Any degree you get, you'll probably get a job in another field. A lot of people think they'll do what they majored in, but it turns out they don't.

Experience here, more or less:

Elementary school: you will be allowed to pass years and go to middle school even if you do a terrible job. Poor kids, holding them back would be very bad!!

Middle school: gotta do well enough to pass each year.

High school first two years: same crap.

High school last year: slack off all you want through the year, the year's grade doesn't matter for anything (except maybe for elitist schools). Only thing that matters is the exam at the end, the "baccalauréat". The diploma isn't very useful in itself but is the key to a lot of higher diplomas.

Univ/college is the same as you.

what grade

A junior.

It's the worst year ever. You have to be all serious about everything and you have the hardest classes.

yeah Junior year was hard as fuck. I took the most AP classes that year, too. Senior year I went out with a 4.2 GPA anyways. (that's straight As in honors and shit. I only had 3 classes first semester.)

now I'm off to college and will be juggling 7 classes. :|

yeah it always is difficult. they expect you to "STICK WITH YOUR CHOICE!!!"

My AP English teacher almost personally kicked a few of the students out for being derpwits. Here in college....everything is "college level", obviously. So you have to take the class, hard or not.

I always wondered, what is AP for? I know a bunch of people that took AP courses and they aren't doing better because of it at all, didn't help them with admission, marks, anything. I never took AP cause it's just more work for no reward (in my eyes at least). I might be missing something, maybe it's different in the US.

Sometimes, you can get college credit for AP courses. Then you don't have to take them in college.

Oh yea some people were gonna do that until they got told the university didn't accept those credits and didn't count them as better in their acceptances haha

we got some crazy hail/rain yesterday. the pic above is what I went back home to. almost looks like snow, was a really weird sight in August.

it happened while I was on a tramway, anyway. there was a lot of water flowing down streets and all. in some buildings they were putting flood dams in front of their doors. the tramway kept going despite all the water in the rails, it was amusing because while some cars were having trouble, the tramway was mostly undisturbed :P

No idea what AP is, but I'm doing the IB diploma program because I love the feeling of truckloads of work penetrating me to hell. Supposedly it's much harder than AP.

The bright side is that you only have to endure 2 years of the concentrated bullshit :>

There's like five, or six, or eighty of us.
School starts tomorrow for me and I already feel like jumping off a small bucket.
