lolno

but whatever, you still haven't acknowledged talking shit about me in the skype group

I never talked any sort of shit, just a legit note. I actually ignored the "board hacking" bullshit you all were going on about.

Now, change of topic and stop looking for a source of drama. Thanks.

Google's home page can't be that bad...

right click -> view page source.

What am I looking at? I mean, it looks like something you find when you right click random files and open them with Notepad. How... how are you supposed to decipher this? Who's responsible for this? Why is something as simple as Google's home page like this

I thought it's normal for pages to be like this, for a layperson like me, but I looked at DuckDuckGo's source and... yeah. I think I know what I prefer.

indenting and spacing doesn't matter anymore.

let's bloat it. That's all. 10000 checks to see if everything is alright!

Not even Youtube's source code is like this total mess. Was Google's homepage always like this or it just slowly (or rapidly) degenerated into this? My question would be, what's really the point of that, then?

I find it ironic that so many modern websites go for a minimalist sleek modern look when their code and stuff are anything but.

Hm, I'm not sure if I like huge animated banners like [http://www.wikihow.com/Main-Page]wikihow[/url], but gnomon's is especially garish and disorienting.

I have a feeling that Google's output is from a program output tho...

Probably. I don't think any sane person would try to write something like it and try to go over it.

It still doesn't excuse Google from bloating. If DuckDuckGo can achieve a simple homepage in a similar style to Google, Google can definitely do it.

But we all know how Google approaches things. They hate being simple.

I think that applies to a lot of modern web design in general, but Google is a big offender.

I had troubles watching SGDQ. The video got really, really laggy for no reason at all video qualities. So I opened the pop-up video player to see if that fixed it, and yes, video was suddenly smooth.

The 50 chat messages per second just made the video stream very, very slow, apparently. In the pop-up player, there is no chat, so smooth video from then on. I don't know how a site like Twitch has not found out this problem (and fixed it) earlier.

Is chat ever worth reading in streams? Because every time I look at them, it's awful and it goes by way too quickly.

Twitch still uses flash so im not surprised its laggy and broken, in fact flash causes a bug where if its not the most recent version a streams audio will work just fine but the video will lag out and eventually just fully stop working.

I think anyone who uses Flash should be criminalized. What's the benefit for it, seriously?

Hiccup

Its use should be discouraged sure, but not criminalised :P

DRM

And their systems are already built for using Flash. It'd cost them time (and thus money) to upgrade to HTML5.

or maybe it's actually the other way around

ie. inflate software requirements to justify selling new hardware

also, yeah. It's harder to retrieve a video from a site when it's locked in a Flash black box.

as a bonus, you can also enforce pre-video ads.

Is vBulletin the reason http://www.mariokartwii.com/ is so... slow? I don't dislike this site, but everything feels like it takes longer to load than it should.

Well, vBulletin is very bloated and Buggy, so it's most likely the reason.
Either that, or their Server is just crap.
