I know this is something like the 4th attempt at doing this dream game if I'll not get bodied like I have on orimagi64 it may end somewhere, well now about what I'm doing and what I've done so far :
Imported a test level of E3 EggHome Planet left in Mario Galaxy code and minimap, Retextured Bowser to fit more like he was in Galaxy (no flat texture more fancy), also textured manta to replace shell in the future as manta surf, imported custom anim (very recent) climb ; spin/spin jump ; slow walk, some skybox textures redone and reimported, failed title screen attempts as well as failed Observatory attempts... However not giving up yet.
I'm solo on this atm

Ok, we have a small problem.. No matter how MANY times I tried to import some models even on emulator the game won't boot them whatsoever now even since you guys reported me the R4 results, thanks a lot btw. For info Observatory model is 6K polygons (4K in the image below) aside from its 2K KCL and do not exceed 64k texture cache, I'm quite sad now, if I can't import levels this is not gonna help progressing because it's not like I'm not willing to dedicate myself in.
[image] [image] Rosetta/Rosalina/Rosaline [image] slight but needed mario retexture from smg

Of course I have a "to do" list... I'll share some of it now, ordered by what I think I'm able to do and what not :
-Water texture
-Uv texture Lumas (I have low poly model and texture ready)
-Same for Rosalina (I'll post both when observatory is fully done) *note model finished
-Edit Bunny to become star bunnies
-Captain Toad
-repair Title screen
-HUD (life bar change)
-Start the game as Mario not via cap or boss key
-Yoshi head on title screen to Luigi's
-Feather power up = Red star (require ASM hack to be able to stop in mid-air and stop speed decrease)
-No fall damage
-MUSICS... (In progress)
→ PablosCorner ; lezg_g ; GamesWithIsaac* they're awesome 2 B honest
-And levels... pretty much all of them at this point

I've done my best so far yet I'm a bit stuck right now with the Obervatory please be patient with me, I've got ideas to make this possible someday soon, hopefully if I don't get blocked too long. (I don't mind giving the shitty build I came up with for you to have a try at avoiding falling throught the map, use Start+Select+L+R simultaneously to go back to level selection, this debug tool will not appear in final release OH and don't go to Castle G1 no need you'll see why : https://ufile.io/7d213

Also need R4 testers *(YtEge ; FireMario74 ; EpicMario50)
Check out Sparsite Cloud Mario ASM ! Looks dope : http://orimagi64.net/showthread.php?tid=446 I made the cloud hat for him

This looks interesting, but how will you deal with gravity on spherical planets?

Of all the people who have attempted this hack, this looks like the best attempt I've seen. I think you are going to be able to pull this off if you stay determined(All Undertale jokes aside). Needless to say it looks fantastic so far! Also I love the spin jump!

@TheKoopaKingdom
I never asked myself is there a problem with spherical components with SM64DS I should worried about ? If it does create a surface parameter that sticks the character in like a transparant hitbox of a planet, will try tommorow good point
@FireMario74 With such touchingfull words anybody will keep at it, thank you and glad you do will improve soon

you sure it will not be easier for you to make a super mario 3d land Galaxy hack ;)

Exelix made a wonderful level editor for 3d land :))

I dont think this hack will go anywhere, some people have tried and failed, plus you cant replicate the gravity.

3D Land is really good, I even considered the possibilities once, but it's extremely flat. SM64DS has lots of sloping terrain, which makes it easier imo. :P

???
3D Land has support for sloped terrain, and it uses it.

@mustafa
Man I've check the Exelix editor, looks sick the only benefit out of it would be graphics and controls I think not developpement for me I'll do a quick test just to figure out better (Maybe Galaxy 2 in far far away)

The problem that people run into with these sort of projects is that there has to be a lot of cut content to account for the lack of gravity manipulation, which means there isn't likely to be enough content to make a respectable port of Super Mario Galaxy.

@MarioFanatic64 Most likelely in SMG2 galaxies were splits in one planet per level which would make a DS port at least much easier now looking on SMG1 it's not the same there were an average of something like 4 planetes per level and knowing what a NDS hardware and SM64DS software can handle you have two options one : to be really creative and skilled to overcome this (what my focus is) or two adapt yourself by not doing a 100% accurate replica that is because it's not possible in the first place.
Concerning gravity I'll try to do something if not then find a solution less ambitious maybe

There is absolutely no reason to say that a project will go absolutely nowhere, when it shows potential, has screenshots, and a playable proof of concept. None of which your "hack" had.

can we stop turning this into a goddamn bashing thread

also you're a new user, while Koopa has been here for a few years. You are in absolutely no position to say that.

also, stop fucking bragging; nobody will care about your hack with that attitude

Actually on-topic, this looks pretty promising! Good luck with the project, and good luck with getting the gravity to work. :)

My hack has nothing to do with this fail attempt of a hack. Koopa acts likes he goddamn 5 years (probably not acting) SMG has its whole own engine for gravity, no way in hell he will get it to work.

The way this hack will end up is only the tops of the stages being used because the gravity wont work.

Please, stop trying to defend this awful attempt at a hack. This has no future at all, ill really be surprised if the creator finishes this at all. If he does, itll be trash like that "playable demo" and those sad attempts of animation replacements.

You guys are probably so blinded by the idea of smgds, you dont see how bad this actually is, and how crazy hard itd be to have something that plays close to smg in the sm64ds engine.

Please use common sense before blindly shit posting me for criticizing this

Hey you. Shooting down people's projects isn't welcome here. Neither is your overall shitty attitude.

Enjoy your ban.
