Looks pretty awesome! There's something weird about the shading though.
You could take a look at the mesh and see if there's anything weird going on at the hat.

I really like these. It makes me think of a silly alternate storyline of Super Mario Sunshine where Mario and F.L.U.D.D. stumble upon a Nintendo DS, and get sucked in on a new adventure!

Will the original cutscenes (avi and wav files) will be in the final release?
Being able to follow the story line is really something that could make this hack look more like the original Super Mario Sunshine

Also, I've followed the developpement of this hack for the past 2 years and the textures are still not satured and the vertex are black (should be purple and blue)

Try using SM64DSe for the bones. you can learn more on General SM64DS hacking. (Using Nsmb textures)

Super Mario Sunshine 64 DS is a Super Mario 64 DS hack I am currently working on. I'll be porting levels from Mario Sunshine and making new stars for them. I'll be working first on simplifying the models so the DS can handle them as this is the most time consuming part and then I'll start adding stars etc.

This all looks great I used to mod the n64 version of Mario 64 I really have no experience with ds modding...This looks like something I would do to the n64 version, you should make a sunshine n64 mod as well
