today was the most terrible day in my life, or atleast the most terrible exam I underwent
First of all, exam is in a lecture hall. No exam rooms available. Okay, not terribly bad. Lecture halls are just misfit for exams because you aren't properly isolated from others. I enter the lecture hall. They didn't turn heating on, it's fucking cold. They turn heating on in lecture halls about one day per year, and it wasn't today... Exam subject arrives. This is where it becomes total bullshit. The exam is about database shit. You'd expect the course (and exam) to cover actually useful things, like how to make SQL queries, how to optimize shit, etc... but no, they decided that it would be far more useful to teach you about the internals of a database engine. It's only useful if you want to work for Oracle... wait, not even, big companies like Oracle can afford to train their new employees properly. So it's only useful if... you want to become a teacher and teach the same shit. And I swear, I'm not exaggerating this shit. About 75% of the exam was "okay, here's a query, tell me which execution plans the database engine will compute and their costs". Total and complete bullshit. 1. That shit is internal to the database engine. It computes execution plans and automatically chooses the best. You have no influence over it, and it doesn't matter to you if all you're doing is setup databases and write SQL queries. 2. This isn't universal, either. There could be another database engine that does things entirely differently. 3. Even if you're trying to optimize SQL queries, you won't be doing all that shit. It's like if they taught you parallel programming by forcing you to learn about the Windows scheduler and its internals. And I would like to add to use a CSS Class or CSS ID, instead of Copy/Pasting the exact same CSS Code to 2 different DIV Styles.
Not to mention, that "margin-bottom-24px;" should be "margin-bottom: 24px;" (so with a colon, instead of yet another hyphen). |
