It's happening! Kinda.

Unfortunately, poor Mario keeps falling through the floor. What gives?

For the textures, ensure that all of the faces are facing the correct direction, in SketchUp you'll have to fix this manually but if you're using Blender, just select all of the faces, Mesh>Normals>Recalculate Outside.

The reason Mario keeps falling through the floor is most likely due to collision ID 0 (which you're setting all of your materials to have) being a non-solid surface. To fix this, within the level editor click on "CLPS", this will show a list of all of the available collision surfaces within the level and their ID. Here you can change, add and remove collision types from your level. To test this I would just click on the dropdown for the first row (ID 0), select "Solid 1" and hit "Enter". Close the CLPS dialogue and click on "Save". Now try your level.

Hey I tried to understand all of your text (page 1) and I failed. I don't have a pc so I can't try anything you said there, but I do have an iPad and I heard you were working at super mario sunshine ds, and maybe you should add an extra option in the menu in the final version: The playroom. And there will be your self made levels! I'm working on my own level designing in a 3D animator and I can send you a screenshot in private messages of it when I'm done! Maybe you want to include that if you get the playroom in the game and if you don't you can just give me tips on how to make that level better!

I recommend you get your computer first before you try anything else first. Trying stuff on an ipad isn't going to get you anywhere.

You'd need to have the editor in front of you to be able to follow along with those instructions and know what I'm talking about. Just make sure though that you're aware of the limitations on level models (polygon count, texture sizes etc.) before you start making a model. Once you get a computer I would strongly recommend that you then switch to using either SketchUp if you're new to 3D modelling or Blender if more advanced, as these will be much easier to use and more advanced than those on an iPad.

Yeah I know but I just thought, maybe if I know what to do, before I get my pc that I did not have to ask everything but then I realized its hard without doing the steps while reading. When I get my pc I will use SketchUp, but here is my question: My app on iPad that I have now, does not use polygons, it only uses 3D shapes like cubes and cilinders so I don't know how to get it done with polygons :(. But I am aware of the limitations on level models but you said texture sizes too, and I'm not aware of that :(. And another quick question: are polygons the same as triangles? And all levels I create on my iPad are mostly test levels and maybe will be recreated on pc or maybe not.

All 3D modelling is made up of polygons, when you export those models into a common model format they'll be as a list of polygons. You'll need a program that lets you modify individual polygons.

- The DS has very limited texture memory, export some of the original levels and have a look at the quantity and sizes of their textures to get an idea of what you can import.

No, polygons can have any number of sides but all eventually get converted to triangles, eg. a quadrilateral will be made up of two triangles.

Alright, here's a question; I've imported a new level, and Mario begins the level by falling out of the sky no matter where I've placed the warp. What can I do to fix this?

Thanks a lot fiachra! :) But I don't think that there are any apps out there that can modify individual polygons :( And I think this will be my last question, but can the polygons be as big as you want?

TBH I would just wait until you have access to a PC, since you will be redoing some of the levels anyways.

I've encountered this before but can't remember exactly what the issue is but I think it's to do with the collision map. If you open the collision map in the KCL editor, does it look correct? If not, please post a screenshot, otherwise can you try setting the option "Drop faces below" when importing to 0.005 and report whether that has any effect?

No, there is a limit but it's huge. For the model it should be fine as long as you don't go beyond the level bounds (either +-16 or +-32). For the collision map however you need to split very large triangles into a number of smaller ones.

Looks about right to me:

What about importing at larger and smaller scales, does that have any effect? Also, when you open CLPS settings for that level, what is zero set to?

First of all the "Warp Pipe" objects don't do anything on their own - they're just static objects; you need to set up entrance and exit objects for each pipe. I would take a look at the levels in the game that use them (Tiny-Huge Island) and copy how they're set up there paying close attention to the positioning of the entrances and exits in relation to the pipe, basically just copy what's there except for the postitions and entrance ID's which will change. Then for warping within the current level, just set the exit level to be the current level and it should work fine.

No luck on getting Mario to warp elsewhere, but at least the levels look pretty:

If you mean the 3D modeling software, you can get it here.
