So I guess I can use this as an introduction.

KALE stands for Kirby's Adventure Level Editor. As the name implies, the editor let's users make their own Kirby rom-hacks. It was made by Devin over at Romhackingdotnet. You may of seen his thread over at Kafuka and Board2. He also has a Github development branch that you can follow.

This is a vastly unknown editor. There are currently three known hacks (that I know of at least) that are in devlopment.

I think we need to change that.

KALE might be the next big thing in Rom-hacking. It is the Kirby version of Lunar Magic and is very use-friendly at the moment. The current version is 0.92; but the editor is complete. KALE let's you edit EVERY part of Kirby's Adventure; even the ability to add some ASM code.

I think we can make KALE into a well-known thing. If you'd guys be willing to hack it, we could get a big following behind it. If SMW hacking dies out, we could always fall back and rely on this.

Anyways, do you guys want to hack Kirby?

Here's a Screen Devin posted on Kafuka. It's a bit outdated though. It's from V0.90

Sound's great. But, how limited is KA?

Its a nes game after all.

KA came out after SMW though FYI. It seems to be not limited at all. You can do a whole lot with it. For example, some guy added a working Bomberman to the game.

The possibilities... yeah, I'd do it!

I perfectly know it came out after.

And it doesn't matter if it did FYI :P

Were talking about hardware here.

Most NES games, you can barely add stuff without having to do ASM hacks or expand the rom.
(in case you didn't know, adding more enemies, longer levels, more objects, etc. not some random bomberman sprite hack)

From what I know, you don't need to know ASM to do anything you mentioned.

"It is the Kirby version of Lunar Magic"
What exactly are you saying?

It is the Kirby equivalent to Lunar Magic. Lunar Magic hacks SMW and KALE hacks KA. Both Lunar Magic and KALE are use-friendly,

It looks very well made. I love the visualisation. I'm not really into Kirby, but props to the creator.

The editor looks really nice, yeah.

I would change the thread title to hint which game it's about, though. Also, moving it to misc ROM hacking.

Thanks. Anyways, I changed the thread title. I think it reflects the topic more.

I just found another Kirby's Adventure Editor! It's a bit more complex and in Japanese, but it seems to support custom graphics and music!

The Other Editor, DreamTool!
