I think the reason the one in multiplayer looked worse is because it is a beta model from super mario 64

You sure?

I swear at some point, they (I'm assuming there's a team) mentioned that they modeled it themselves.

HAHA, a beta model!? OK, I want to know the story behind this. First off, there's absolutely no leftover Luigi in game. Secondly, the original Luigi mod was actually made by Starxxon. Lastly, who the hell even told you it was a beta model to begin with? smh

I can't find the video but there was one that said that there is a beta Luigi in sm64 and that was how you get it into the game. Sorry for waiting your time with false information I think I understand what this is now but yeah it is better then the multiplayer model

If you're going for the N64 charm, I'd go for that high pitched voice that Luigi had in his early days. Use the Japanese voice, or just increase the pitch of Mario's standard voice clips.

The first two Smash Bros. games blatantly re-used Mario's voice clips with a higher pitch for Luigi.

I completely disagree with this. Also using smash bros. Is kinda a lost argument. Because not only did melee come out after a lot of games that had luigi's modern voice. But smash bros. 64 also came out after Mario kart 64 which had Luigi's modern voice also. So no it was most likely were lazy.

If you want me to help I can put forth effort for a modern luigi voice mod.

Edit:
Also by using the argument that modern Luigi won't work because it's new is not N64 standard.
He still has the same voice actor since ages (Same as Mario in fact).

If you really want to have it sound like N64ish port the voice from Super Mario 64 DS. If you need the rip I'll provide it.

Some of this is kinda iffy too. Although Martinet has indeed done Luigi's voice since the 90s (Japanese MK64 and Mario Parties 1/2 excluded), it's been performed in different ways. Western Mario Kart gave him a deep voice (alongside Mario Golf and Tennis 64), Smash Bros 64 and Melee gave him pitched-up Mario clips, and Luigi's Mansion-onward gave him a more nasally voice.

Personally, I'd go with MK64/64-sports Luigi voices. Not only are there far more voice clips between those games to work with (and more versatile clips at that), but they're more consistent than mixing his Mario Party voice with pitched-up Mario voices.

Although it might sound confusing, Luigi's voice is actually depending on build dates for various N64 Mario titles. Since Cjes wants to make this Luigi accurate enough as if he were actually playable, we base everything on "what's the next thing to Super Mario 64". The reason we chose his Japanese voice from Mario Kart 64, is because not only does it sound similar to Mario just at a higher pitch, but it's the closest N64 Mario release since SM64. Also, since SM64 was a "rushed" game, according to a lot of the broken/missing features that were later implemented/fixed in the DS remake, if they were to rush Luigi in as a playable character, the voice would've most likely just been a higher pitched Mario to save time.

Why?

For what reason would you have a deadline for somebody else's work?

It's not really a deadline, we're just playing out the hack as if it were officially made by Nintendo.
