It's because Whitehole has terrible file permission management. The files are already locked by the system and loaded in whitehole so it either tries to read the data and fails (causing it to look weird) or reads data it's not supposed to (VERY VERY BAD). Be glad it doesn't crash/corrupt your system in the first place :P

Wait...does that mean Whitehole could potentially damage a computer?

No, Java is safe (AFAIK), it's most likely the former, I don't know why it would read other data but it's possible in other languages so I wouldn't write it off entirely, but even then it couldn't do anything bad since it's just reading it and not executing/writing it.

Okay, good. The bit about corrupting the system was a tad unnerving, but that's all cleared up now.

NWP you're kinda over complicating it a bit :P

Just say it's just not going to get fixed, it's a bug that isn't constant.

It's because Whitehole has terrible file permission management.

Go tell that to the Java guys.

The Java file API provides no way to tell 'I want to open this file only for reading', 'it's okay if others also open this file' and such.

But not like Whitehole's exception handling is very clean either.

Sorry for the huge bump, but I'm having an issue with whitehole 1.1.3.

I added a new zone, and added paths to that zone. But for some reason, every time I click on a new path that is in my new zone, whitehole freezes, and I have to shut it down with Task Manager. However, I can click paths in the zone I didn't make just fine, and any object in my new zone works fine too. Only the paths don't.

This problem just started happening today. Does anyone know what's wrong?

Corruption or Cosmic Rays. Try deleting and re-adding manually using Anarchy (Be sure to de-Yaz0 and re-Yaz0 to fix it so it works in Whitehole again).

It didn't really work. I can place a new path and click it fine, but once I save and exit whitehole then return, it freezes every time I click a path in my new zone.

It always loads the galaxy in black-and-white for me. It doesn't really impact the operation of the program, but it's a little annoying. Is this some kind of graphics driver issue?

Make sure you're using something around a NVDIA graphics card.

If you're using Windows 8:
Right click on the windows button and select device manager.
If that isn't working, you can press Windows (on your keyboard) + S and type device manager.

Find Display Adapters, and click the arrow next to it.
Once you click that, you graphics card should show up. Right click that, and then update driver software.

Click Browse my computer for driver software, and then Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. Finally, under model, select the most recent version. Click next, and then you're done!

This probably also applies to 7 and Vista.
