This is a tool that I made/merged/whatever that extracts SMG's SMR.szs. I found baad.exe and wsyster.exe on some old forum with some descriptions about what they do so I tested them out and saw that they could extract SMG's SMR.szs, so I wrote a batch file. Just place SMR.szs in the folder and run SMR.szs Extractor.bat. wsyster.exe can handle the WSYS files. This tool somewhat reminds of the AW Extractor.

SMR.szs contains information about every sound in the game.

Not really. I actually didn't do anything with the AW extractor. I found those baad.exe and wsyster.exe, and saw that yaz0enc.exe was needed, so I put everything in a folder and wrote a BAT file.

There isn't RUN_SMG#.bat and nor a SMR_SMG#.szs in my tool. In my tool there is one BAT that works for both games and have another function than the AW Extractor. The AW Extractor also doesn't extract SMR.szs. It has the ability, but wrong instructions in the BAT files.

The demand as of right now is for something that can edit SMR.szs, as we already have a program to extract it.
Status: It was really, really fun, guys - thanks for the ride!

SMR.szs Extractor version 1.1 released! The new thing in 1.1 is that the name don't need to be "SMR.szs", it can be whatever you want.

I have confirmed that this is working on the Donkey Kong Jungle Beat szs, here are the extracted files. Not sure how this helps me with ripping the samples and sequences from the game which was intended but thanks.

You're welcome. That's interesting.

The .wsys files are connected to AW files, and AW files is archives with multiple sound effects. Go to the SMR.szs Extractor folder with Command Promt. When you're there type
wsyster file.wsys
in and it will tell you wich AW file it's connected to. Example:

Place the AW file in the folder and type
wsyster file.wsys
again and the AW will be extracted and its soundfiles will be converted to WAV files! Repacking isn't really possible yet, but I don't know, there might be a tool somewhere. I don't know where Donkey Kong's AW files are stored. Maybe in \AudioRes\Waves or something like it's in SMG.

Thank you so much! I extracted the waves easier doing that, here they are including everything else like sequences, some streams and info that was in the Donkey Kong Jungle Beat iso https://www.dropbox.com/s/u60ytbbv5ebg1oh/Donkey%20Kong%20Jungle%20Beat.rar?dl=0 now if only there was some way to convert the bms sequences to midi then it would be perfect.

I remember there being a converter around in PHP somewhere.
