Posted by Fiachra Without a doubt, Luigi needs the Poltergust for sure. In Luigi's Mansion, the Poltergust also had capabilities of spraying water, blowing fire, and blowing ice; I feel like you could do a lot with those mechanics. There are many things you could do to make the Poltergust work better as well. For an example, the Poltergust 3000 was the first Poltergust to exist. The Poltergust 4000 was an actual kart in DS. The Poltergust 5000 was the latest in Dark Moon--What I'm saying is, you could make a Poltergust 4500 and give it your own capabilities. Some examples: ~ Have Luigi blow air to hover (but if in the air too long, the Poltergust will overheat and you will fall) ~ Luigi could spray water from the hose, but would require water re-filling. ~ Luigi could have something similar to the rocket nozzle where instead, he could purposely over heat the Poltergust to let out fire and blast him high in the air. As for Yoshi: ~ Yoshi could spray juice out of his mouth and would need to eat fruit to re-fill up. ~ Enable Yoshi to have the ability to wall jump Wario: Absolutely clueless on that one. ~ I like the idea that you're actually planning on giving the game more variety by providing the different characters with power-ups of their own, besides F.L.U.D.D. Regardless, implement the Poltergust for Luigi. It would be ideal and fitting since not only did SMS reference to Luigi sucking up the ghost in Hotel Delfino, but E. Gadd created both devices and I'm most certain the Poltergust would be doable. |

Why not think back to the abilities each character has in their own games?
Luigi has the ability to stun (Flashlight) and 'consume' (Poltergust) enemies in Luigi's Mansion. Perhaps he could suck enemies in and be given a coin/whatever (Coin, Silver Star) right away. For each enemy consumed, a meter (Similar to the mechanic implemented with FLUDD) could fill up with 'dust' that allows Luigi to stun enemies. Alternatively, have no meter and include the Stun/Flash Light stun in addition to consuming enemies. There's not much to say for Yoshi - He's the most different of the four. He already has a jump aid and can throw projectiles. Give him the ability to carry more than one egg at once as in his own games? I never liked Wario, honestly. Incorporating his 'nasty' may rob what charm there is. I see multiple options here: -Have Wario stay Wario. For anyone looking for classic SM64 gameplay, give him wall jump & such. Downside is that he'll more or less be another Mario without FLUDD. -Replace him. Rather than give Wario a unique gameplay element, allow the 'special' trait of the 4th character to be that their new. Daisy, for example, is 'tough' and could inherit Wario's ability to break the black bricks/launch enemies farther. Naturally you have a multitude of other choices though. -Scrap him. Just not in favour of seeing any of Wario's Smash Bros. 'moveset' making and form of appearance here. Of course the second option depends on the amount of dedication - I understand the difficulties of behind incorporating an entirely new character, though I'm not familiar with SM64DSe's animation process. |

Flurry Very blimpy, but not fruity. Level: 34 Posts: 197/253 EXP: 248783 Next: 4868 Since: 11-09-13 From: The known universe Last post: 1204 days ago Last view: 743 days ago |
For Wario, why not take some cues from the Wario Land series? You could give him the P-Balloon powerup from the Puffy Wario form he can take. Or maybe give him a slower form of the turbo nozzle that can destroy blocks and enemies? There's a lot of stuff you could do with him, in my opinion.

Luigi:
Posted by Somebody Else Posted by Ningamer Posted by Ninja Posted by SuperMario64DS The Poltergust was the first thing I thought of as well but I think it would just be too difficult to implement, much harder than F.L.U.D.D. was. Apart from that I'm not sure how much use you'd get out of it - it was designed for hunting Boos but there aren't many ghosts in SMS apart from Hotel Delfino. At the minute I'm considering adding a power-up from SMG or the NSMB series. Wario: Posted by Somebody Else Posted by Ningamer Certainly an option, shouldn't be too difficult to implement. Posted by blimpfruit00 I agree, I found this list of all of Wario's transformations throughout his various games and there are a couple of possibilities there that I could implement without too much difficulty and that would suit/work well, in particular Thief Wario, Wicked Wario and Vampire Wario. Yoshi: Posted by Ninja As well as allowing him to perform wall jumps I'll probably also allow him to perform ground-pounds. I'll consider the fruit idea, I think it would be possible but I'm not sure how useful turning enemies into platforms would be. Thanks everyone that gave suggestions. |

Will all levels in this hack have custom music or are you going to leave some original music in? |

Wario may use some of his special abilities from SSBB, farting for hovering, burping a nosive gas(because garlic) for nozzel, farting fire for turbo(:P) and charge a super fart for rocket, charges by, eh, waiting?(in SSB wario charges his fart attack by doing nothing) that's all what i have, i don't know, maybe wario can use a sort of jetpack |

I like the idea of other power-ups from SMG or NSMB, if you didn't already decide on something. Personally, I'd love to see a return of the Hammer Bro Suit, or Kuribo's Shoe from SMB3, but again, just an idea for power-ups. |

If we don't have F.L.U.D.D from the start that means that the inicial place is going to be here? And then i go and get F.L.U.D.D? |

Posted by SuperMario2 I don't know how many of them will end up with custom music. Stomatol has kindly made music for three of the levels so far, if not for him there probably wouldn't be custom music in any of them. I'm too busy working on the models and star missions and I don't know anything about custom music. Posted by The Mystery Gameplay I don't quite understand what you mean by "... initial place is going to be here?". As in SM64DS you'll start off as Yoshi and have to unlock Mario however Mario won't have F.L.U.D.D. when first unlocked; you'll have to unlock that separately as with the extra abilities/power-ups that the others will have. I'm not giving away any details on how they'll be unlocked though. Posted by PSISly Thanks but I've it narrowed down to two power-ups for Luigi, both are sort of similar in the ability they provide. I've decided on a transformation for Wario from the Wario Land series and on a back-up in case I can't get it working well enough. I want to leave them as a surprise though. |

I have one more question about this, and I promise I'll stop bothering you in this forum.
I know you implemented Petey Piranha, but I couldn't help but wonder if the giant Wiggler from Gelato Beach is possible, since a Wiggler boss is already present in SM64? |

Posted by PSISly I'm going to try to make him bigger but not giant as it would be too hard to defeat a giant version without the dune buds (which won't be implemented). |

The palm trees in Delfino Plaza are ugly (they appear only in 2D). Maybe you need to import the palm tree-model of Mario Kart DS in Super Mario Sunshine DS.
Would it be possible to add Gooper Blooper as boss? |

The palm trees are flat because the trees in Super Mario 64 DS are flat textures to begin with. Making the trees 3D is unnecessary and would probably take up too much space, time, and effort. ____________________ |

Posted by GuyWithThePie The palm trees in the Sunshine Isles level are actually a fully 3D tree unlike the other trees throughout the game. |

Posted by PSISly Oh. Then I guess that Fiachra should use those instead. I wonder if there's some way to add a platform at the top of the trees so that you can stand on the leaves like in Sunshine. ____________________ |

Posted by StapleButter It seems a few Nintendo fan news sites have been commenting on the recent F.L.U.D.D. video, got ~10,000 views overnight. Hopefully might give the SM64DS hacking scene a bit more attention. Posted by GuyWithThePie In levels that require or it suits to have climbable trees I'll use trees based on those Sunshine Isle ones but where they're more a decorative feature I'll make them bigger and similar to SMS' trees but you won't be able to climb them. I'll be trying to avoid 2D ones. |
