For me, I would say Super Mario World is good, but Super Mario Bros. 3 was the ultimate simple Mario adventure.

SMW. Note that I haven't played SMB2 and SMB3.

I found SMW easier to play than SMB overall. Mostly better controls.

Last view: 929 days ago 		I liked the design of Super Mario Bros. 3, but I thought it was too hard. SMB1 was pretty fun, but I really enjoyed Lost Levels. It was a level of challenge that didn't annoy me like in SMB3, but made me want to keep playing. I wasn't a big fan of SMW, and I don't think SMB2 counts, although I was okay with it.
