Please, you did what you did, and I appreciate that. But other people have had roles in this. You may think that they should not be mentioned though, and it is your board thread so... I guess I have to leave it at that.

SM3DL uses some sort of BCSV, in a way, through PA files. It uses both KCL and PA from SMG, but obviously it crashes the SMG exporter from KCL > Obj because it's laid out differently.

I have yet to look at the PA files, because I'm not too interested in collision ATM, but I will get to it.

Probably not, because you'll need the model files in order to do so, which I am not supplying.

Why don't you want to release the models? It seems a bit... odd that you are the only one on the planet which can get these models (not that I believe you are the only one) and then you keep them all for yourself. But Rean, why are you releasing the SMG levels and such, but not this??!
The SMG files I give out are EDITED, not the pure original. Which is why I don't give out ISOs or ZIPS with original galaxies (unless I do edit them, mind you.)

I refuse to give out the files as-is, because it's direct piracy.

Obvious reason is that the model files are copyrighted, and thus illegal to freely distribute in the open.

but in the future I would recommend to add a reason to the answer, because some might not think about the reasons.

You can decompress the szs files into NARC (and where have you guys heard that before? ;) ) and open it up with a little editor Treeki made.


Still no sign of a JMP-like format, though.

InitActor.byml has be an archive of somesort, I can't stand not being able to look at this further right now.

Okay. I've made a wiki page, which could be used to store info more efficiently. (An object database would be useful too :P).

I have it mostly finished, just really confused how the last section with the entry data works. It looks like the usual tag (0xC2) and then some number I have no idea how it's determined (number of subsections?) and then at 0x04 is a float of some sort ??? (0xC0000000 usually) and then an offset from the start of the file to the next(first?) section.

It seems like each section (not always true from what I've seen though) has an offset to the next at 0x0C in that section, like how that third group of 4 bytes jumps to 0xAC, and then the last section has 2 entries with 8 bytes each, that much I can tell. Not sure how it links with the table/entries though.

Move 1 vertex slightly, then it's modified and legally distributable...


...right? (Distributed in a standard form like DAE or OBJ, presumably)

Even doing so much as including a texture from a copyrighted game in a model you release is 'piracy'. I don't understand why you and others are taking on this policy now when in the past there have been cases when various files (Modified and unmodified) from both SMG titles and SMS have been distributed.

It's pieces of a copyrighted work that you were never given permission to use.
