It exists for a reason, because nothing is perfect, not even NTSC, that's why they MADE PAL instead of adopting NTSC. The same reason they have region lock, because it's 50FPS vs 60FPS and trying to change the speed can really fuck up a game or whatever you're using. It's mainly an issue of copyrights and legal shit.
Your other argument holds true for older games, like in the SNES era (Super Mario Kart doesn't work properly at 60Hz for example). But nowadays game code is more lenient regarding timings, and can run on both PAL and NTSC with little to no modifications. Besides, PAL Wiis can do 60Hz output, too. The history of PAL and NTSC has to do with current frequency, iirc (USA has 60Hz current, we have 50Hz). 2. Minecrafter4718 changing the layouts on forums, making them weird. 3. People that say Only Fools and Horses is rubbish because it is 'old and boring' because it isn't. 4. How Youtube now always enables autoplaying by default when playing a video in a playlist.
And more importantly, if you click the button to disable it too early (apparently before the page has fully loaded), the button takes its disabled appearance but autoplaying stays enabled. It's because of that 'you can't run Javascript before all the page has loaded' bullshit. Same at imgur: you can't start uploading shit before every fucking miniature on the homepage has loaded. Wait, YouTube annoys you? What a surprise. I'm annoyed how my internet is shitty, therefore YouTube decided that it should give me a black video screen every time my internet cuts out. And how you can't reply to comments that are over a year or so old. And how the transparency for your avatar only shows up on G+. And how their new copyright policy works. And how there is a watch later button right next to all the things for changing quality. And how it treats 144p as an actual option when doing auto for quality. And how, if your internet cuts out but comes back quickly, all the remaining loaded video becomes 144p.

Unless you use the HTML5 player. In that case, the lowest is 360p which is acceptable imo.
But we agree on the fact that 144p is a fucking block soup and shouldn't exist. And with their 'G+ comments' shit, they broke the 'in reply to Blargblarg' links on comments that reply to others. You know, those used to show the relevant comment? Now all they do is open the EXACT SAME page as you're viewing, in a new tab.
