Well, Im sorry if this interferes with the whole re-structure of the SMG forums, but here is a galaxy that Hodgepodge9 has started creating:

Hey guys, this is MC. Since I would still love to help out the SMG scene as much as I can, I’ve gotten permission from Mega to post designs and such through another user. Paperplateismguy was kind enough to be said user. It’s not ideal, but it’s the most I can do at this point. Anyway, if I haven’t bothered you on the irc yet to show you, I present my first attempt at modeling, AKA Wood Block Galaxy.

If you can’t tell from the name, it’s a galaxy solely made from wooden building blocks. This made it easy to model while still looking pretty nice.

Here’s planet 1:

This first planet isn’t too difficult to navigate. You start at the front, made your way around the side to the back, where you vertically climb up to the top and get to the launch star.

Here’s the back of Planet 1 (No textures):

It’s some pretty simple platforming with a couple of hidden 1-ups.

Here’s planet 2:

Some linear platforming with the second half being a star chip section. One will be on that purple piece, one will be on the red green and blue blocks next to each other, one will be on that green cylinder in the center near the end, one will be on the brown rectangle with the large holes, and the last will be at the top of those block stairs at the very end. A launch star will appear to shoot you to the next planet.

Planet 3:

This “Big Block Tower” (Mission name) is the ultimate vertical platforming machine. And better yet, with spring Mario! Prepare to kill yourself in frustration

. It takes a lot of precision to reach the power star at the very top of the green spire. Let’s hope it isn’t impossibru…

So PPG will be creating the galaxy in whitehole, and we hope to have it finished in the next month or so. I think it’s turned out alright (for a first attempt at least). So yeah that’s about it for now. Expect some more stuff in the future, and thanks again PPG for posting this and taking on the level creation.

This design looks really solid. Makes me wonder where these sorts of ideas were when SMG2.5 was still kicking :/ but oh well, great job!

It's probably because someone decided that all galaxy themes had to be predecided and set in stone way before the galaxies were actually made. But blah, that's past.
