Posted by Degolegodyl Well, they may be operating systems as well, because some people run w7 on VirtualBox. discord: Sevvy#4212, twitter: @Sevvyuwu add me if you want, kinda shy tho |

Server 2012 is a pretty good system. It has so many features to use, and it's open
It's the server version of W8. ____________________ Mom: You had a party while we were gone? We are concerned about your 91 year old babysitter! Friends: I didn't do it! Linux is no f*ing operating system. If you're going to make a poll about OS'es, make sure you KNOW what you're talking about first. ____________________ |

Posted by Anthe Linux may be badly designed and Unix-based, but at least it doesn't force the Metro interface on you. |

I dont like how he listed all Windows versions, but only listed "linux" as one. Why not just do Windows vs Linux vs Mac.
And Linux is a better OS than Mac will ever be, so watch it anthe And MN1 does have a point. |

Mac is #1 for me, but if I could pick a second it would be Windows 7. ____________________ You can tell I'm testing new avatars. Status: Totally didn't change this, nothing to see here. |

Posted by Marionumber1 I was talking about Linux being a kernel, not an OS. I really like Linux and it runs on my server, laptop and mini laptop. ____________________ |

Posted by Anthe Well, most people use Linux to refer to the OS as a whole (except Richard Stallman). |

Posted by Anthe lol Anyway, thinking in going with the latest version of Ubuntu for an old laptop, much lighter weight than windows, and I'm just gonna use it for internet, python and java, so it should be fine |

Posted by DegolegodylYou will love it. But make sure to use GNOME2 instead of Unity because Unity is pretty system heavy for old machines. ____________________ |

Posted by Anthe Actually, you probably wouldn't be able to use GNOME 2 on the latest version of Ubuntu. Use MATE instead; it's a fork of GNOME 2 with a lot of improvements and new features. It's even more lightweight than GNOME 2. (You could also just use Xubuntu or Lubuntu) |

oh thats great. Just got ubuntu on the computer, and unity works great, might get that MATE soon tho, since unity is kinda limited... But still, loving linux, only a little tough to imstall programs, but ill get the hang of it. (python took me an hour to figure out how to install) |

"sudo apt-get install python"? :')
Welp, most of the software you need will probably come from the Software Centre. Yay for Linux. ____________________ |
