Quoting yourself, Stygmax? I didn't know you were THAT full of yourself. Joking aside, goodbye SMG2.5.

Even with the death on SMG2.5, we should still keep the Super Mario Galaxy hacking tradition alive and still create galaxies. Just cause the project is dead doesn't mean that we should all just quit.

Oh lol this is actually happening.

*coughs*

Thanks Glem for upping me to 'programmer', but I have to say I'm a total programming noob. 90% of my code was pasted of the internet, little knowing what I was actually doing. I spent hours making my GUI's and I really liked doing so. First astConverter, then msbtEditor (total pain in the ass, that one), (the totally underrated) arcTools and Galaxy Tools (which I think no one ever used, waste of time)

Thanks to Mega-Mario for helping me with my French homework (Mario le Grand hahahah) and keeping this website and the IRC running with a bunch of idiots causing drama all the time. Thanks to BowieZ (even though he's not here) for being a massive inspiration to the project.

Thanks to Polari for being the logo of the demo installer, ma buddi <3

Thanks to Mr Rean for converting the msbtEditor to an exe and all the wonderful things you have telled us.

Thanks to NWP for changing his name back to NWP and doing a bunch of great work.

Thanks to Dego for defending Windows 8 and being part of the pc master race. Yeah!

Thanks to gericom for providing me a lot of files for my GUI.

Thanks to Agent for the awesome tracks.

Thanks to MG3 for all the music.

Thanks to MN1 for creating decent, working programs.

Thanks to Nina. I mean. It's Nina.

Thanks to cosmo for all the designs.

Thanks to Martboo. Just. Thanks.

Thanks to SolidShadow. I will never forget what you've been through.

All the people I didn't mention are awesome too. I probably don't know you that well if I did.

It's been good. Bye.

I guess it's kind of poetic that I would be one of the last to find out about this XD. At least for me, I'll think of this project as being in hibernation... we just don't have the resources we need right now, and I don't have the time the project requires. We still have everything we've made together though, and I'm so thankful for all the work that you guys have put into this based off a simple idea. I still have a link to the first time the idea for SMG2.5 came into being:

And remember guys, just because the 2.5 project is called off, it doesn't mean we have to disband and it doesn't mean SMG hacking is gone! We are still making SMG2 levels, just in a much more casual environment and without the overall goal of a huge full-game hack.

I remember seeing this project soon after beating SMG2 and staring in amazement in the fact that you could actually make your own levels. About two or three years later, I decided to join the forum and found out that the project was not going well. Even though I couldn't help I still tried with my Mac that doesn't support anything. Well I'll still be on the forum doing stuff, and goodbye HolyRomanEmperor.

Smg2.5 is cancelled, which is really sad. But that does NOT mean SMG1 (or 2) hacking will die because of that.

But hopefully something dramatic will happen and spirited hackers will revive SMG2.5.

Until then, Smg2.5 is down forever.:(

SMG2.5 was too ambitious. Perhaps more realistic projects will happen, though. Who knows what 2014 will reserve us?

Well, I am really dissapointed in this news. I loved working for 2.5, I felt right at home. But I sort of knew this was gonna happen. I have to blame it on poor direction and laziness, as that was really why it was doomed. But still, I really learned some great composition techniques for 2.5, and my music went from MIDI to almost orchestrated. So yeah. I will still stick around on both boards, but I am moving my composition skills to Project M, where THAT project is not doomed to fail.

This had to happen I suppose....

I don't know if ending it was the right choice, but I'll just accept it.

Oh well. Maybe in a few years enough levels will be made to fill up a SMG2 world so a Level collection or something like CTGP/a Newer SMB World could come out.

I'm not sad because of the project itself, but because idk I've been part of it for so long and I just feel sad after hearing it's over. It's been a good place for hilarity, weird programmer talk, derping, forum games and some productivity. But eh hopefully not everyone will leave and there will still be some of that left.

The galaxies that have significant progress (Retro Remix, Rolling Halfpipe, Toxic Terror, Sky High and such) will still be worked on though, right? (if would be a shame to see all that work go to waste)....

So yeah RIP SMG2.5 and yay for 2014! :D

Even though it's been a long while since I last did something for the project, hearing about this news makes me feel tremendously sad. Getting into SMG2.5 after creating my well-known Flip-Swap custom level was virtually a turning point in my life. Thanks to the project, I've earned a good amount of subscribers and views on Youtube, and all the time I've spent experimenting with Super Mario Galaxy 2 and making levels has been highly enjoyable. I'm specially fond of the work we all carried out during August 2012, when Planet Plains and other stages where developed and the SMG2.5 trailer was released. Therefore, I'd like to thank every member of the project, since it has not been without its accomplishments.

Besides, as other users have already remarked, this doesn't mean that SMG hacking will stop. I, for one, am planning to make more levels sooner or later, now that I've got the hang of model and texture importing. As always, I'll visit the forum from time to time. If you need help with something related to SMG2 hacking, don't hesitate to send me a PM.

Again, thank you SMG2.5.
