Now, looking at the title, you might be wondering how this fits in with level design for Super Mario Galaxy 2.5. Well, I think that the most important thing to try to understand when creating a galaxy is what things will make playing it fun. Because ultimately, even if your galaxy looks gorgeous and has more detail than you can imagine, if it's not fun, it's not going to be worth playing. So in this thread, I ask you this question: what do you find the most enjoyment from when playing Super Mario Galaxy 2? I think that knowing this can not only better my design abilities, but also improve any future designs. |

I LOVED the throw back levels, cameos, and the 3D only galaxies. (that means I REALLY hated Upside Dizzy Galaxy.) ____________________ You can tell I'm testing new avatars. Status: Totally didn't change this, nothing to see here. |

I really liked the more puzzle-type ones, like flip-swap or beat block, purple coins (untimed! wait did they have those in smg2?), um and any common level in general (those that didn't require stupid "challenge" or whatever like clearing trash or scoring points)... |

I quite like very big galaxies with lots to do, go exploring and stuff. For example: Good Egg Galaxy, Freezeflame, Beach Bowl, Yoshi Star, Shiverburn. and 3d boo Mario areas. I guess the opposite of Luigi#1 ____________________ Remember, every user has to start out somewhere,- Every time I look back at my old posts, I cringe. |

Wow, I completely forgot that this thread even existed. Anyways, I thank you all for your input, but I don't think that I'll be able to put it to good use. Let's just say that my level design abilities are...lacking. However, I'll still leave this up so that other users that are actually good at making levels can use it for reference. |

I think we should be focusing on both big and small galaxies. Too much of either will upset the balance ![]() ____________________

Fun means different things to everyone, and there's no clear definition on what's always fun for everyone and what isn't ![]() It is possible to describe what the world "Fun" means (It's something like "a word to describe something that a person enjoys"). ____________________ Former SMG2.5 Advertiser and one-time Level Designer/Artist - So Apparently Norway is rich while Denmark and Sweden are happy. Generally speaking, a greater level variety makes each level have greater impact ![]() ____________________

Posted by MarioMaster720 I made this so that I could gather ideas of what people enjoyed when playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 to better my level design skills. The title is kind of misleading, yes, but I still think that it serves a good purpose. |

I think SMG2 was perfectly varied. I don't think we should go overkill with new ideas, but they should be implemented whenever necessary. ____________________
