Just another question here as it doesn't seem to be documented here and whitehole just says something along the lines of "Set direction with Priority field." I have been trying to reverse engineer it by just examining already placed gravity objects but it's very slow going and I still don't really understand what the settings really mean... |

Well there is enough documented in Nintendo's files just use good old anarchy, open a map file, go to placement > planetobjinfo, and you got all the gravity in that map, not necessarily the galaxy, there are still zones to deal with, but there's a ton you can look at. Plus anarchy's values are easier to understand IMO. ____________________ "I hate playing musical chats" ~ Quote of the month |

Oooooook.... so I just downloaded anarchy for the first time... and exactly where would I see gravity? I can't find a single thing. You must think I'm stupid but oh well. |

I toldz you It would be in Placement > PlanetObjInfo (first 2 dropdown boxes on the top of the window - the field and something else IDR what it's called) after you open a map.
The third dropbox box is layers, like common, layerA,layerB, etc. though the letter varies between maps. Each layer is a star, usually, except common in which whatever appears in all stars, in this case gravity. You'll probably have to make an account if you don't already have one, but try looking at this thread in our archive for more help with anarchy ____________________ "I hate playing musical chats" ~ Quote of the month |

Well I had actually found the gravity when you replied but I actually prefer to use whitehole as I can see which gravity affects which part of the planet. Although it seems frustrating because there are a lot of factors that go into the gravity, such as rotation of the placed object, as well as the priority field, scale, range... IDK. I've been trying to do little tests one at a time to reverse engineer it but I either get wonky effects or on one occasion the entire game froze as soon as I entered what I assume to be the active gravity area. Hopefully whitehole will be able to render at least the area of effect of gravity and other area controllers in the next release, although I understand that would be difficult. |

Actually Whitehole can position gravity just fine |

Yes it can place it jusf fine. However it only shows up as a small salmon cube with no way of knowing the range or direction of the area of effect. |

Just use values from other galaxies, I made perfect gravity for a Toadship a few months ago, but the only problem was that it affected the entire level. |

Thats what ive been trying to xo. But for a custom planet that requires more than say, one sphere of gravity or more than just one plane, it would be nice to see the area. And as you said your gravity affected the entire level. I still feel we should work on documenting gravity more as a community. |

It's called the object database. Use it well. |

So go to the object db and tell me exactly which fields in whitehole do what with gravity. I feel like youre all missing my point. |

the fact that the gravity affect the whole level could mabey has something to do with zones? (but I could be totally wrong). the only thing I know is that cube or disk shaped gravity controller has to be in the middle of the planet. It could be nice if we could see how far the gravity would reach. |

logank93- Just look at other galaxies, it's not that hard. We have yet to really look into it yet. It would be nice if you could help.
MK7tester- Range. And Distance need to be lowered. Also, check the toadship on MagicGalaxy (Battle Belt) and look at the gravity there for a reference. Jesse- It can reach infinity. ____________________ a |

Posted by Luigi I know what range, priority, and inverse are, but what does distance control and why is strength always 1? ____________________ Current hack: Excerpt from Super Mario 256 |
